One of the best things about island travel is the sea view. As a Zeeland native, I simply never tire of it. Do you love green vistas and rugged rock formations? Then chances are you'll book a ticket to this tropical paradise immediately after reading this Madeira Travel Guide. Portuguese island Want to book? There are several beautiful viewpoints on the island.

You can explore these with a guide on a tour or jeep safari, but renting a car and venturing out on your own is also an option. Winding roads through cloud-capped mountains early in the morning. I love it. And sometimes I felt like I was in Costa Rica instead of Europe. How unique is it to find yourself standing by a cliff with waterfall-topped beaches, accessible only by boat?

7 Most Beautiful Views and Viewpoints on Madeira

In this blog post, I've listed the most beautiful viewpoints and viewpoints of Madeira that you definitely want to see if you visit the island.

  • For one of the most beautiful views of Madeira, go to the Pico do Arieiro. I was there during a sunrise tour with Hit The Road Madeira And it was definitely one of the highlights of the trip. If you have a rental car, you can, of course, drive to the top yourself early in the morning. The best view is at the foot of the observatory.
  • Unfortunately, Pico Ruivo was shrouded in fog during our trip, and we couldn't hike the narrow path to the summit. If you're luckier, definitely add this viewpoint to your Madeira bucket list!
  • Want to have lunch with a beautiful view? Then book a table on the terrace at Quinta do Furao. Don't be surprised if it gets very crowded inside during lunchtime. It's no hidden gem, but it's a place not to be missed for lunch or dinner with panoramic views. Tip: above the beach, at the foot of the cliff, there's a waterfall!
  • Near the northern village of Porto Moniz, you'll find several natural pools nestled in the rocks by the sea. Locals say it can get very crowded, so go early to avoid the crowds!
  • One of Madeira's most famous attractions is without a doubt Cabo Girão, where you have a viewing platform with a glass floor at a height of almost 600 metres.
  • You can stay overnight there (as we did during our trip), but you can also just go there for something to eat and drink. You can take a cable car from the top of the cliff. Two Fathers GirdleA place that can't be reached by car. But you can by boat!
  • Visit Prainha do Caniçal at the beginning of the São Lourenco peninsula, and you'll instantly lose track of whether you're looking out at the rocks of Nusa Penida in Bali or Madeira. The peninsula boasts several stunning viewpoints.
