Pearl-white sandy beaches, steep cliffs, massive rock formations, or picturesque bays: we have lined up the most impressive and beautiful coastlines in the world for you. Idyllic or awe-inspiring, each one is special in its own way. From Italy to Australia, be sure to add these beaches to your travel bucket list!

Cinque Terre, Italy: is a colorful, picturesque area on the Ligurian coast. It consists of five small villages perched on enormous cliffs. The villages are interconnected and can be visited via a hiking trail of approximately eighteen kilometers. Since 1997, Cinque Terre has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Na Pali Coast, Hawaii: Located on the rugged northwestern edge of Hawaii's Kauai Island, the pristine landscape with towering peaks and plunging valleys, waterfalls, and streams is breathtaking. Hiking the Kalalau Trail, described as one of the world's most dangerous, is the best way to discover the natural beauty and enjoy a perfect view of the coastline.

Cape Town, South Africa: home to one of the world's most beautiful coastlines, full of contrasts. Here, the hustle and bustle of the metropolis and the beauty of the Western Cape collide. From white sandy beaches at Noordhoek to the rugged Boulders Beach where you can swim with penguins. And of course, there are also the impressive Table Mountain and Lion's Head.

Legzira Beach, Morocco: This eight-kilometer beach between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni lies on the southern tip of Morocco's Atlantic coast. It's rugged, rocky, and wild, and features beautiful red sandstone cliffs. One of the area's most famous natural rock arches, a major attraction, unfortunately collapsed a few years ago.

Halong Bay, Vietnam: Within thousands of limestone islands lie dramatic caves filled with stalactites and stalagmites. They rise sharply from the crystal-clear waters of the Gulf of Tonkin, dotted with floating fishing villages. UNESCO has included this area in its World Heritage List since 1994.

Great Ocean Road, Australia: Stretching 243 kilometers along Australia's southeast coast from Torquay to Allansford, the Great Ocean Road is one of the most beautiful coastal drives. Built by Australian soldiers and dedicated to fallen soldiers of World War I, it is also the world's largest war memorial. Along this spectacular coastline, you'll find beautiful beaches, the waterfalls of Great Otway National Park, and the towering limestone cliffs of the Twelve Apostles.

Big Sur, California, USA: This rugged coastline is home to charming small towns, secluded coves, and verdant canyons. Its isolated beauty made it a long-time haven for artists. Some of Edward Weston's most famous photographs were taken at rugged Point Lobos. The Bixby Creek Bridge is also worth a visit.

South Georgia: is an island in the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands. It boasts a breathtaking landscape of snow-capped peaks, icy glaciers, and emerald bays. Aside from a few researchers who camp there year-round, the island is uninhabited. However, it is home to remarkable species such as king penguins, elephant and fur seals, humpback whales, and fin whales.

Antrim Glens and Causeway Coastal Route, Ireland: Home to three areas of breathtaking natural beauty. The Glens region comprises a plateau of black basalt lava on a white chalk bedrock. The Giant's Causeway consists of thousands of basalt columns that extend into the Atlantic Ocean. The 40.000 hexagonal columns, formed by volcanoes some 60 million years ago, make the coast absolutely unique. And then there are the dramatic cliffs of Binevenagh.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: this is where the most iconic landscapes converge. Rio de Janeiro's coastline boasts more than twenty beaches, including the world-famous Ipanema and Copacabana. And then, of course, there's the iconic statue of Jesus atop the 710-meter-high Corcovado Mountain, overlooking the city.

The Lofoten Islands, Norway: these islands form almost a labyrinth of straits and are known for their mountainous landscape and sheltered bays home to picturesque fishing villages. Moreover, from autumn to spring, you can witness the Northern Lights here.
