Middelburg, the city where I was born and raised. Over the past few years, I've come to appreciate Middelburg and Zeeland much more. While I used to think it was too small, now I love how peaceful it is and how close you are to the beach. Lots of great new places have popped up, but I'm also happy to see that some things don't change. I recently went to Zeeland for a long weekend and spent the night with Peugeot I've made another new road trip video. In this new Middelburg City Guide, I've compiled all my favorite tips for Middelburg. From boutique hotels you'll want to know to great restaurants, shops, and things to do.

@eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember.
Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤
Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here!
📍 Eetcafé de Reiger
Jordaan, Amsterdam City Centre
Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too!

A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?
🍴 Labskaus with caviar
🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar
🍴 Game pie
🍴 Dry aged Duck
TIP: If you go to Sühring, reserve the seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work!
Follow @yourlbb for more tips you can trust.

In this reels I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three Michelin starred restaurant Sühring.

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.
📍In this video, I show where you can fill your bucket.
Comment oester for the comprehensive guide with all details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules.
Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.
In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them without much effort. Leave a comment and I'll send it to you right away!
Who do you want to go oyster collecting with soon?

Loskade 45: Near the station, Loskade 45 is a true family hotel. The hotel has just nine rooms, all modern and clean. The cozy brasserie serves local and organic ingredients with a story. In good weather, you can relax on the terrace.

Hotel The Roosevelt: In the heart of Middelburg, you'll be awakened in the morning by the bells of the Lange Jan church. If there's one hotel in Middelburg you'd want to stay at, it's Boutique Hotel The Roosevelt, with 28 uniquely decorated rooms. On their website, you can choose the room that best suits your personal taste! And you don't even have to leave the hotel for delicious food. The eponymous restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine and is also a favorite with locals.
NEW BURG 42, MIDDELBURG, HOTELTHEROOSEVELT.COM
Boutique Hotel Franklin: This new boutique hotel, with its cozy brasserie and cocktail bar, has just opened its doors on the historic Vlasmarkt in the heart of Middelburg. The fourteen luxury suites are all uniquely decorated with meticulous attention to detail. A family suite is also available.

Boutique Hotel Eleanor
Saint John: Certainly not a hotspot, but believe me, you'll want to know this place. I was already coming here as a high school student, and even now, I never miss this place on any visit to Middelburg. Why? Because they have the most delicious frozen yogurt here. Trust me, you'll want to try it for yourself! With a bit of luck, it'll be on the lovely terrace at the Vismarkt when the weather is nice.
SINT JANSTRAAT 40, MIDDELBURG, SINTJOHN.NL
Restaurant Scherp: When we have something to celebrate with the family, we do it at Restaurant Scherp in the picturesque Wijngaardstraat. Here, Chef Mart cooks with the finest ingredients the province has to offer. You can dine à la carte, but it's more fun (and even more delicious) to choose one of the set menus with paired wines.
WINE STORE 1-5, MIDDELBURG, RESTAURANTSCHERP.NL
The Flying Deer: In this historic building, in one of Middelburg's most beautiful locations, you can learn more about wines (as well as beers and whiskeys). During a wine tasting, you'll sample a unique collection of wines from the vaulted cellar beneath the building.
DAM 61, MIDDELBURG, FLYINGDEER.NL

Coffee 't Hof: Kaffee 't Hof is a cafe in Middelburg you'll want to check out. Simply because sometimes you just don't feel like being in the hot spots and trendy interiors. This is the place to go for pub classics like spare ribs, craft beer, and (often) live music.
VLASMARKT 20, MIDDELBURG, KAFFEETHOF.NL
Basalt Restaurant: This fish restaurant on historic Sint Janstraat is open from lunch to dinner. It's the perfect spot to enjoy a seafood platter and other shellfish near the Vismarkt in Middelburg. Prefer not to have fish? No worries, there are also vegetarian and meat options.
SINT JANSTRAAT 34, MIDDELBURG, RESTAURANT-BASALT.NL
The Friendship: This grand café on Middelburg's Markt square has been a city institution since its opening. Enjoy a delicious meal in the evening and lunch, coffee, or drinks during the day. In the summer, the terrace is a delightful spot! When the weather gets colder, snag a table by the window for a wonderful people-watching experience.

Luuk's Bread & Pastry: At this bakery, you'll find not only artisan-baked sourdough bread, but also an early-morning breakfast with a good cup of coffee. And did I mention they also have some delicious cakes?
SQUARE 1940 15, MIDDELBURG, LUUKSBROODENPATISSERIE.NL
The Inn: A few years ago, De Herberg's interior and concept were completely overhauled, transforming this local favorite from a traditional traditional pub into a hotspot with a cozy, homey atmosphere. With one of the city's best terraces, it's definitely a place to stop for a drink!
POTTENMARKT 3, MIDDELBURG, BARHERBERG.NL
The Teacher: At De Juf, you're welcome early in the morning for coffee and cake. All the delicious treats in this artisanal cookie and cake shop are made with 100% Zeeland wheat. For those with a sweet tooth, the high tea is highly recommended and also very enjoyable. Prefer a savory pie? That's also possible!
DAMPLEIN 20 MIDDELBURG, DEJUFMIDDELBURG.NL

Fries shop Btje Anders: There's no city on our Staycation list where we haven't spotted a trendy chip shop. Middelburg is no exception! This chip shop was even named the best chip shop in Zeeland by the AD newspaper. You understand: I had to try it for myself. Honestly, the fries with Zeeland beef stew are truly delicious!
REIGERSTRAAT 3, MIDDELBURG, FRIETBOETIEKBTJEANDERS.NL
Zeeland Regions: Not open long, but it's definitely my new favorite for a more extensive meal in Middelburg. The interior is cool and modern, yet the atmosphere is incredibly cozy, with every corner offering a different ambiance. The menu features dishes made with local Zeeland produce. The au fruit de mer is highly recommended (also delicious as a starter)!

Honeypie: A healthy tea, a chocolate tea, or just a high tea, or even something to go for a picnic on the beach? Then you should go to Honeypie, Zeeland's coziest teahouse where everything is freshly baked and made!

Sebastian den Herder: My former classmate Sebastian den Herder's boutique and studio is one of the best vintage designer shops in the country. Besides brands like Chanel and Dries van Noten, he also sells his own clothing label. You might even catch him sewing in a quiet moment! As a lover of vintage designer items and costume jewelry, this is now one of my go-to places for beautiful vintage items at a fair price.
SINT JANSTRAAT 10, MIDDELBURG, SEBASTIANDENHERDER.NL
The Local: Is it a shop or a children's café? This concept store is both. It's definitely a must-see if you want a drink and let the little ones play. Meanwhile, you can browse and see if you need anything to take home!
SINT JANSTRAAT 62, MIDDELBURG, HETLOKAALTJEMIDDELBURG.NL

Industrial: Looking for industrial items with a global touch? For a raw and rugged interior, shop at Indistrieel for colorful Indian and industrial items for your home.

The Drvkkerij: Whether you're a bookworm or not, if you walk into De Drvkkerij bookstore on the Markt in Middelburg, chances are you won't leave empty-handed. You'll find an impressive collection of books, gifts for all ages, and the most beautiful stationery.
MARKET 51, MIDDELBURG, DEDRUKKERIJMIDDELBURG.NL
In the meantime: At mixconcept Tussen, you'll find everything under one roof: a coffee bar, hair salon, and shop all rolled into one. A collective of (young) entrepreneurs sells a variety of items, from fashion to accessories, and the selection is constantly evolving.

Seize the day
The CuliKaravaan: How cool is that? The CuliKaravaan also comes to Middelburg every year. Usually during the second weekend of August, but it's best to check the website for exact dates. With tons of mobile kitchens serving street food from around the world, live music, and a cozy atmosphere. CULIKARAVAAN.NL
Wine tasting at 't Vliegendt Hert: I've mentioned this restaurant before because it serves delicious food, but did you know you can also enjoy a wine tasting? There's a large wine cellar beneath the historic building! Tastings are available for groups of two or more.
DAM 61, MIDDELBURG, FLYING THEATRE.NL
Rent a sloop: At Café De Zwarte Ruiter on the Witte Paart square on Dam Square, you can rent a sloop with friends. There's room for nine people to sail through Middelburg's city center. Bring some tasty food and drinks for a picnic along the way!
DAM 33, MIDDELBURG, CAFEDEZWARTERUITER.NL
Watching arthouse films: I still find it remarkable that a small city like Middelburg has always had its own cinema. If you're a fan of arthouse films, catch a movie (on a rainy day) at Cinema Middelburg. Tip: Have something to eat and drink at the Kloveniersdoelen afterward or before!
CINEMA MIDDELBURG, BEHIND THE HOUTTUINEN 30, CINEMAMIDDELBURG.NL
Climb the Lange Jan: You can't miss it. Even before you enter Middelburg, you'll see the Lange Jan tower towering over the city. It's the 90-meter-high abbey tower, and you can climb it. From the top, you'll have a magnificent view of Middelburg and Walcheren.
