Mercado San Anton Madrid: Great market for tapas and fresh food in Chueca

9 September 2012

Tapas in Chueca!

Are you looking for a low budget trip? Then Madrid is my favorite! Sun, cava and tapas is all you need for a weekend in Spain. I really like the trendy neighbourhood Chueca in Madrid! It\’s full of (gay) bars (and shoe shops!). Wandering around in Chueca we discovered: Mercado San Anton. A modern indoor market with farm-fresh local produce. On the first floor you find several small tapas bars selling delicious bites with ingredients from the market. And good news: they\’re very cheap too!

Why I love Mercado San Anton:
I love tapas. Everyone chooses what he likes and you can order as many as you want. At Mercado San Anton they have tapas from only € 1, – per bite. Just squeeze in standing at the bar and drink and eat with the locals. Me and my friends liked this place so much, I think we went there every day for a quick after shopping bite!

Trendy rooftop bar in the heart of Madrid.
Cool place for a drink in Chueca is the rooftop bar at Mercado San Anton! La Cocina San Anton is a popular hot spot when, and I know why… they have very good cocktails there ;-). The trendy restaurant La Cocina San Anton can be very busy so it\’s recommended to make a reservation. Especially for the weekends!

Mercado San Anton and restaurant La Cocina San Anton:
Address: Calle de Augusto Figueroa, 24, Chueca, Madrid.
Website: for the indoor market with good tapas: mercadosananton.com and for the bar and restaurant on the rooftop: lacocinadesananton.com.
Category: indoor market with fresh local seasonal products and restaurants.
Products: the freshest food from Spanish meats to fish.

A visit to the trendy Chueca district and Mercado San Anton should not be missed during a weekend Madrid. Have fun!
