IN A MAGNIFICENT building IN THE pijp OPENS BEGIN 2018 MARIS PIPER

One of the best restaurant news of last week is the opening of Maris Piper Amsterdam. In the building where Carels used to be and which you probably recognize from the photo on this blog. A beautiful building in the heart of the Pijp, where unfortunately a curse seems to have been resting in recent years. None of the concepts that were located here was successful. I have cycled along the place so many times without seeing any people inside. Then you can only think one thing… how long does this spot remain open? Not so long! Because at the Frans Halsstraat 76 the new restaurant Maris Piper will open its doors in early 2018. That this will be a success I do not doubt. Maris Piper Amsterdam is being opened by the team behind Guts and Glory and Restaurant Breda, where I will go to soon.

What can we expect from Maris Piper? A brasserie-style restaurant of high standard and with ditto prizes. Something you go to for an extensive dinner and in the future you can even join the Chef’s Table where you’ll be in a separate room and get a different menu. Of course it’s not yet clear how this will look like, but I get a bit of a sense of a restaurant like Blanca in New York. Exciting plans if you ask me! As soon as we have talked to the entrepreneurs more extensively and more of the plans are known, you’ll read about it in this blog.
