LOT61 Amsterdam Central Station: now your favorite coffee spot in the heart of the city center
LOT61 Amsterdam Centraal Station is een feit. En na jarenlang slechte koffie op Amsterdam Centraal is dat een zéér welkom gegeven. Koffiekenners in Amsterdam weten dat er een aantal plekken zijn die nooit en te nimmer teleurstellen. Onder andere Toki, Rumbaba, Skina en natuurlijk LOT61 behoren tot die categorie. Dat LOT61 (inmiddels jaren gevestigd op de Kinkerstraat) een gloednieuwe zaak opende, vlakbij Amsterdam Centraal, is méér dan goed nieuws voor alle koffiesnobs en forenzen.

Een bezoek brengen aan LOT61 Amsterdam Centraal Station
De nieuwe LOT61 Amsterdam Centraal Station zit niet letterlijk in het station; je moet er een klein wandelingetje voor maken, dat wel. Maar dan heb je ook wat, want als onderdeel van het DoubleTree by Hilton aan de Oosterdok, serveert LOT61 nu ook in het centrum koffie van hoge kwaliteit. De enorme ruimte van de nieuwe zaak is voorzien van hun signature kleuren roze en groen, met betonnen pilaren, bakstenen details en natuurlijk hun vrolijk gekleurde koffiezakken als decoratie, samengesteld door Studio Smörgasbord. Adam Craig, oprichter van LOT61: ‘Onze nieuwe vestiging is bedoeld voor vaste gasten, reizigers, Amsterdammers en fijnproevers die op zoek zijn naar comfort. Naast onze vertrouwde koffiefavorieten staan er ook nieuwe seizoensvariaties op het menu, mogelijk gemaakt door de speciaal gebouwde cold brew installatie.’

Menu LOT61 Amsterdam Centraal
Onder het mom van Born in Sydney, Raised in Brooklyn, Roasted in Amsterdam, staat LOT61 al jaren voor steengoede koffie. Inmiddels zijn ze B Corp-gecertificeerd en drink je er met een gerust hart je dagelijkse shot cafeïne. Ook hun bijbehorende pastries zijn een hit – hun bananenbrood is beroemd en de croissants zijn altijd even vers. Net als hun koffiebonen, overigens, want die worden gewoon in Amsterdam gebrand.
Naast goede koffie serveren, bieden ze ook cursussen die je de fijne kneepjes van het koffievak leren. Van latte art tot het worden van een echte koffie connaisseur: bij LOT61 slaag je ervoor met vlag en wimpel. Naar verwachting zullen we ook op de nieuwe locatie hun koffie-educatieprogramma’s doorzetten – er is immers voldoende ruimte. Naast leren van koffiekenners ben je hier ook aan het juiste adres voor een dagje flexwerken of een duik in de studieboeken. En met zulke goede koffie als die van LOT61 vliegt je dag zo voorbij.

Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.
Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake
TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.
During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.
• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.
· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.
· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.
Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.
• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).
Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.
