36 X escapes to stay & walk in nature + 50% discount

Hello autumn, and hello long nature walks! There's nothing better than the sound of autumn leaves crunching under your boots. Last week, I stayed with TRAVELIN' at a unique location in the heart of nature in the Netherlands. Together, we kicked off the We Walk Weekend at Quadenoord with a foraging walk, a cooking workshop in the forest kitchen, and a stay in a teepee. Incredibly special!

That gave us an idea. Because what's better than a walk in nature? That's right, a walk in nature with an overnight stay! That's why we've expanded the We Walk Weekend Google Maps this season to include accommodations in nature. From the forest to the dunes, and hotels, cabins, and cottages all offering direct access to nature.

50% off for followers of Your Little Black Book

Could you still use a good pair of boots for all your long walks this year? Then I have good news: the 50% discount on the TRAVELIN' We Walk Weekend has been extended exclusively for Your Little Black Book readers until October 31, 2023. Use the code ylbb50 to get 50% off the women's and men's collections. Click here to view the women's and men's collection directly >>

36 X hiking & staying overnight in nature in the Netherlands

Last spring, I created a TRAVELIN' We Walk Weekend Google Map especially for you, showcasing over 75 beautiful hiking areas in the Netherlands. This fall, we're expanding the map, which has already been viewed over 75.000 times (!), with 36 wonderful accommodations in nature. You can identify these accommodations by the green icon in the hiking map below. I've categorized them by North, Central, and South so you can easily find inspiration for a wonderful nature escape in your own country.

PS: I'll highlight some of the tips below Google Maps. For the other 31 tips, check the map itself! Enjoy!

Quadenoord

Imagine… staying on a centuries-old private estate near Renkum, on the edge of the Veluwe. You'll sleep in a tepee tent where you light the wood-burning stove yourself. Relax with a book in front of your private tent or take a lovely walk through the woods after checking in? It's all possible! In the evening, you'll enjoy a 7-course dinner at Restaurant Zeven, where only local ingredients are used. And when I say local, I really mean local in this case. Think game from the Veluwe, cheeses from Gelderland, and vegetables straight from the farm. Quadenoord is a unique address for a nature escape, created by a team that previously worked at restaurants like Vuurtoreneiland and Toscanini. So you know you're in for a treat!

Eco hotel Plantage Rococo

This bohemian estate near Velsen-Zuid is perfect for a stylish nature escape. You don't even have to leave the Plantage Rococo estate for a beautiful walk. Take a walk around the pond and marvel at the stunning scenery! Afterwards, curl up by the fireplace for some pure quality time. In the evening, enjoy a meal at the hotel's excellent restaurant before unwinding in your beautiful room.

Country estate Beekhuizen

Those of you who have been following me for a while know that I've been booking nature escapes at Buitenplaats Beekhuizen in Velp for several years running. Whether you stay on the estate itself in a safari tent, one of the new cabins, or opt for the luxury boutique hotel, you'll be staying in one of the most beautiful locations in the Netherlands. From your accommodation, you can walk straight into the forest. There are several beautiful trails you can walk, but I personally find the one along the stream the most beautiful. After your walk, you can relax at Restaurant Woodz for drinks and a bite to eat.

Hotel Landgoed Het Roode Koper

Do you love nature and luxury? I think Hotel Landgoed Het Roode Koper is such a special place in the Netherlands. Whether you visit in the summer or the colder months, this hotel has its charm in every season. In sunny weather, you can relax by the seasonal outdoor pool after a brisk walk. In winter, curl up with a nice glass of wine in front of the fireplace in the lounge. Besides your TRAVELIN' hiking boots, bring something formal for the evening. The French-inspired restaurant is chic and classic.

ANNA cabin – Holenberg

Staying overnight or for a weekend in an ANNA Cabin, you can't help but exclaim "WOW" the moment you arrive. These are arguably the most beautiful cabins in the Netherlands. In good weather, you can slide the glass cabin all the way open and literally sleep under the stars. If, like me, you're there during the colder months, it's incredibly cozy by the wood-burning stove. You can take lovely walks right from your cabin, and there's a fun nature trail for kids opposite the entrance to the property.

My favorite boots from the new TRAVELIN' collection

Not familiar with the outdoor brand TRAVELIN' (yet)? I've been wearing their collection for almost a year now and am a huge fan. TRAVELIN' is a truly Dutch brand and the market leader when it comes to hiking boots. Another great thing: they have almost all their shoes made in Europe!

Last spring I went for the timeless and more traditional hiking bootThis season I'm going for the cool biker boots Variant! A boot I don't just wear to the woods, but also just around town. The women's and men's collections are incredibly diverse and With the code ylbb50 you get a 50% discount if you could also use a new pair of walking shoes.

𝗔 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗲́ 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆? @eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember. Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤 Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here! 📍 Eetcafé de Reiger Jordaan, Amsterdam City Center Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam. And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too! ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
A grandma's cookbook. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home. The Sühring brothers don't cook based on trends; they cook based on memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations. @relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care. This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception. Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly? 🍴 Labskaus with caviar 🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar 🍴 Game pâté 🍴 Dry-aged Duck TIP: When you go to Sühring, reserve seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work! This is one of the best free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself at various locations in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can make it, we’ll go again. 📍In this video, I show you where you can fill your bucket. Comment *oester* for the comprehensive guide with all the details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules. Important to know: – Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket) – For personal use only – Do not scoop or scrape the seabed – Go at low tide Handy things to bring: Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes, and garbage bags (for the oysters *and* dirty clothes). And of course: bring an oyster knife, lemon, and champagne too 🍋🥂 Because you’ll want to taste something right away, won’t you! The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing. In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them, without much effort. Comment oyster and I'll send it to you right away! Who do you want to go oyster gathering with soon? ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 These are those few magical weeks each year when the city suddenly feels different. Everything is in bloom and all you want to do is be outside. Coffee to-go in hand, and just head out as soon as the sun shows up. 📍 Bloesempark – Amsterdamse Bos (the classic, yes it gets busy, but totally worth it) 📍 Rijksmuseum 📍 Fruit Garden of West 📍 Westerpark 📍 Jozef Israëlskade 📍 WG site 📍 Nelson Mandelapark 📍 Bos en Lommerplantsoen 📍Amstelpark By mid-April most of the sakura will already be gone, so if you want to catch it: this is your moment. I'll definitely be doing a few more rounds before it's over. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck _______________________________________________ 🌸 Discover the best places to spot cherry blossom in Amsterdam and enjoy the sakura in full bloom. 🌸
