Amsterdam is full of fun playgrounds where they can enjoy themselves for hours, from wading pools to climbing frames and natural play elements. And you? Grab a coffee to go or relax on a bench in the sun. Because it can be hard to find a good playground near you, we've compiled a list of the best playgrounds in Amsterdam, borough by borough. We even include a tip for a nearby restaurant, so you can grab a snack (to go) or keep an eye on the kids from the patio.
Sarphatipark boasts not one, but two playgrounds perfectly suited to different age groups. From climbing frames to swings and plenty of sand to dig in, children can burn off some energy here. Oosterpark is undoubtedly one of the most child-friendly parks in the city. There are two playgrounds: one for younger children and a more challenging area for kids who can climb and clamber more independently. On hot days, the little ones can cool off in the paddling pool behind the Tropenmuseum. The playground is located near the terrace of Hotel Arena, where you can enjoy a drink with the kids after playing.
Wittenburg Playground is a playground where you can find almost anything. Here, children can have fun on the zipline, merry-go-rounds, swings, and a giant sandbox. There's a sports hall, a soccer cage, and a grassy area where you can picnic or run around. Regular activities are also organized.

One of the city's most peaceful parks is Beatrixpark, perfect for a relaxing afternoon with your little one. Nestled in the greenery is a playground with a large sandbox and a paddling pool, ideal for little ones. Boats regularly sail past the park, making it extra fun to watch and dream together.
Amstelpark is another play paradise for kids. The playground is large and features all sorts of climbing frames for all ages. A true favorite among young families in West. The playground is right next to Terrasmus, the park café adjacent to the play area. Perfect for keeping an eye on your kids from the patio. Adjacent to the playground is a large lawn where you can spread out a blanket for a picnic or a game of football.
Between Willem de Zwijgerlaan and the railway line, you'll find De Ruige Speelplek (The Rough Playground). A favorite spot in West on warmer days. The paddling pool with fountain provides a cool retreat, and the large lawn is perfect for a picnic or a game of football. Grab a treat at the Foodhallen and enjoy it in the playground with your little one, or top off your day with an ice cream from Massimo Gelato around the corner.
Let your kids get messy—that's the whole point of Het Woeste Westen, a true natural playground where they can splash around in sand and water. Sailing on a raft, catching bugs, jumping over ditches, wandering through the reeds: it's all allowed here. Wear old clothes and maybe bring an extra set, because nobody stays clean here.
