Anyone who loves skiing has probably heard of Les Trois Vallées. It's the world's largest ski area in the South of France. The area consists of several smaller resorts, all interconnected in good weather and snow conditions. I recently spent a few days in Les Menuires. A ski village where you can step straight from your hotel onto the slopes! Les Menuires is located at an altitude of approximately 2.000 meters in the French Alps.
One of the perks of skiing in France is, without a doubt, the food. Where else can you enjoy a steak tartare for lunch that tastes as good as it does on a Parisian terrace? And then a crêpe au sucre for dessert, too. LOVE IT! From Les Menuires, you can also ski to Val Thorens with just one ski lift, or to the chic Courchevel ski area. There's almost no reason to take a ski lift multiple times in one day, and you can enjoy some fantastic skiing this way.
In this Les Menuires Travel Guide, I'll list tips for restaurants, from mountain huts to Michelin-starred restaurants, ski-in/ski-out resorts, and fun things to do. Happy travels!
The most important things to do are done by the community through this Nederland and in Amsterdam?

@eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember.
Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤
Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here!

Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too!

A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?
🍴 Labskaus with caviar
🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar
🍴 Game pie
🍴 Dry aged Duck
TIP: If you go to Sühring, reserve the seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work!

In this reels I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three Michelin starred restaurant Sühring.

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.
📍In this video, I show where you can fill your bucket.
Comment oester for the comprehensive guide with all details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules.
Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.
In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them without much effort. Leave a comment and I'll send it to you right away!
Who do you want to go oyster collecting with soon?

Le Chalet Du Sunny (Les Menuires)

7 delicious meals in Les Menuires
Chez Pepe Nicolas: This cozy restaurant is located between Les Menuires and Val Thorens and is one of the most popular in the region. I was there on a Tuesday evening, and it's highly recommended if you enjoy good food. Every Tuesday evening, you can enjoy a menu featuring dishes from the Savoyard region. I had a delicious raclette that you make yourself at the table (for two people or more). Highly recommended! The restaurant's interior is also very cozy. Authentic, but with a modern twist and charming details.

Chez Pepe Nicolas
L'ours Blanc Restaurant: This restaurant is located near the Reberty lifts and has a terrace with a beautiful view. It's the perfect place for a culinary lunch while skiing.
The Farm of Reberty: This gourmet restaurant is beautifully situated and has a lovely sunny terrace. Enjoy a culinary lunch or dinner with escargots, steaks, and other French dishes.
Les Cocon des Neiges: A lovely spot for lunch with a large terrace! I had a delicious steak tartare there (the best of all three days I was in Les Menuires) with a view of the towering peaks and the lifts of Les Menuires.

Les Marmites: Another restaurant located near the Bruyeres lifts. In good weather, you can enjoy the terrace! The menu features French specialties, as well as pizzas and burgers.
Les Yourtes Des Belleville: One of the most enjoyable restaurants if you're visiting Les Menuires with a group is Les Yurtes des Belleville. Enjoy delicious cheese fondue and other Savoie specialties in a traditional Mongolian yurt. You'll be picked up from your hotel (if nearby) by snowmobile! Reservations can be made through your hotel or by email/phone.
The studio: During my ski trip to Les Menuires, I stayed at the Chalet du Mont Vallon Spa Resort****. This hotel houses the restaurant L'Atelier, which was featured in the 2017 Michelin Guide. The menu has Italian influences, and Ossobuco and fresh pasta are the signature dishes. It's a relaxing place to eat if you're staying at the hotel and have already enjoyed a relaxing spa session. I was there quite late in the season, and the restaurant wasn't very busy. Although the food is delicious, I would still choose a more lively restaurant if you're not staying at the hotel.

3 x old-fashioned fun
These restaurants offer a true Alpine feel and are incredibly cozy, resembling authentic mountain huts (although you might not always guess it from the outside!). Expect plenty of wood, vintage ski equipment, and local regional specialties on the menu.
1. At the Old Grenier
2. At the village
3. Chez Pepe Nicolas
12 Michelin-starred restaurants near Les Menuires
Anyone who enjoys treating themselves to a Michelin-starred restaurant every now and then will find plenty to enjoy in Les Trois Vallées. Unfortunately, I didn't get around to it on this trip, but anyone who loves good food will want to know these restaurants from the Michelin Guide:
- La Bouitte*** (Saint Martin de Belleville)
- L'Ekrin by Laurent Azoulay* (Méribel)
- Pierre Gagnaire pour les Airelles** (Courchevel)
- The Montgomerie** (Courchevel)
- The 1947*** (Courchevel)
- The Kintessence** (Courchevel)
- Jean Sulpice** (Val Thorens)
- The Chabichou** (Courchevel)
- The Farcon* (Courchevel)
- The Strato* (Courchevel)
- Azimuth* (Courchevel)
- The Fathers' Bell* (Saint Martin)

2 x food on the slopes
Looking for a nice restaurant or mountain hut where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink while skiing? These restaurants are right on the slopes:
Le Chalet Du Sunny: They have a hot tub here and a DJ from 14 p.m. Track: TS Sunny Express or TS Becca
The Chalet des Neiges: This restaurant is right at the top if you take the Roc 1 lift. A beautiful view and delicious French dishes!

If you're looking for truly great après-ski in Les Trois Vallées, Val Thorens is the place to be. Personally, I enjoy après-ski with a group of friends, but if you're just with your partner, I find it more fun to enjoy drinks on the balcony in the sunshine after skiing. Still want to let loose? These places offer it!
Le Chalet Du Sunny (Les Menuires): I mentioned it before, see above why! They play great house music here!
Le Leeberty (Les Menuires): A club beneath the shopping center near Front de Neige. I haven't been there myself, but it's supposedly quite lively during peak season.
360 bars: Another popular après-ski bar in Val Thorens that you can ski to from Les Menuires. Keep in mind that both La Folie Douce and the 360 bar are closed when the lifts are closed. Otherwise, you'll have to take a taxi back to Les Menuires!
La Folie Douce (Val Thorens): By far the most popular and posh club/après-ski bar in Val Thorens. This place has several locations in ski resorts across France!

The Sweet Madness
Le Chalet du Mont Vallon Spa Resort: During my ski trip to Les Menuires, I stayed at this four-star hotel. They offer hotel rooms as well as apartments that sleep up to six people. Located halfway down the Reberty ski lift, the hotel has a lovely swimming pool, sauna, and Turkish bath where you can relax after skiing. Be sure to try the waffles for breakfast!

Le Chalet du Mont Vallon Spa Resort
Hotel L'ours Blanc: Another hotel where you can put on your skis in the morning and be right on the slopes. This hotel also has a good restaurant and a lovely spa and is rated as one of the best in Les Menuires.

Hotel L'ours Blanc
Hotel les Bruyeres: Want to be right in the heart of the village, surrounded by restaurants and with easy access to the lift? Then Hotel Les Bruyeres is perfect for you. This modern hotel is located right on the slopes, where all the action is in Les Menuires.

Hotel Les Bruyeres

Skiing and snowboarding: DUH! It's a bit obvious, but how wonderful is it to ski straight from your hotel or apartment onto the slopes and head to resorts like Val Thorens or chic Courchevel?
Paragliding on skis: I've been lucky enough to paraglide in Cape Town before. So special! And imagine paragliding on skis instead of running down the mountain? In Les Menuires, you can do this with a tandem jump, enjoying the view with an instructor.
Roc 'n Bob: Fond memories of sledding as a child? In Les Menuires, you can blast down the Roc 'n Bob sledding run, over 4 kilometers long. The vertical drop is 450 meters! Only for the daredevils among us ;-).
Relax in the sauna: Is the weather too bad for skiing today? Or are you ready for complete relaxation? There are two wellness centers in Les Menuires: Centre Sportif de la Croisette and Dog sledding:I spent an afternoon at the last center and it was wonderfully relaxing in the sauna!
Dog sledding: When there's plenty of snow, you can take a half-hour dog sledding ride in Saint Martin. I did that once in Finnish Lapland, and it was fantastic! Something I'll never forget.

How to get there: From Amsterdam, it's over 11 hours by car to Les Menuires. Flying is faster. As I mentioned before, Geneva is the best airport to fly into. You can fly there cheaply with EasyJet!
Tip: on the website LesMenuires.com you will find all information about the ski area.
Have fun in Les Menuires!
Great as a gift for yourself or someone who loves to travel as much as you do!
WITH LOVE,
ANNE
