9 delicious breakfasts tested that will make you want to go to Schiphol

Whether you're team croissant, noodles, or eggs benedict: you'll find a surprising number of good breakfast spots at Schiphol, and I've tested them for you. In this guide, I share my favorite places for a tasty and relaxed start to your trip.

What kind of breakfast eater are you? I was asked that question recently, and I really had to think about it for a moment. One of my essentials for starting the day off right is definitely a Cup of coffee. Afterwards, preferably a street food-style breakfast. Not only on vacation, but also at Schiphol Airport when the holidays haven't even started yet :-). I recently had a few very early flights. So plenty of time to test quite a few breakfasts at Schiphol. Are you team sandwich or a good croissant? Do you prefer eggs benedict, or can you eat dim sum or a bowl of noodles at any time of day, just like me?

Believe me: if you know where to go, you can turn your breakfast at Schiphol into the tastiest start to your trip. Many restaurants you might not immediately expect have a special breakfast menu in the morning. In this new Schiphol Travel Guide, I have gathered my favorite tried & tested breakfast spots for you. I even spotted a breakfast deal that is so good you’ll be happy to head to Schiphol a little earlier for it. And yes, with the tips from this food guide, you’ll be able to find the best croissants and other tasty pastries and buns in no time next time. Good morning and enjoy your meal!

These are the breakfasts at Schiphol that you want to try one by one.

Eataly – Italian sweets

For La dolce vita at Schiphol, head to the new Eataly. Be warned: there is a good chance you will experience a mild form of FOMO when standing at the counter. Everything looks so delicious that you will probably want to taste it all. Can't decide? Then go for the breakfast deal, perhaps the best deal you can find at Schiphol. You get a filled croissant, coffee, and a cannolo for €10. Personally, I would choose the supplement and go for the pistachio croissant! From experience, I can tell you that if there is one other thing you really want to order, it is the maritozzo. It is incredibly tasty and also perfect for sharing. Kebaya – Japanese omelet

When I fly intercontinentally, Kebaya is one of my favorite restaurants at Schiphol. In the morning, it is often wonderfully quiet there, as their breakfast menu is perhaps the airport's best-kept secret. You can choose from breakfasts from various Asian countries, and I have already tested a few for you. The Fukusu Tamago is highly recommended and is really very filling. It is a fluffy Japanese omelet filled with vegetarian fried rice. It is also delicious as a side to share with one of the other breakfast dishes. View the location of Kebaya here >>

STACH – crispy cheese croissant

Is a croissant enough for you for breakfast? At Schiphol, you can find croissants of all shapes and sizes, but as far as I'm concerned, you get the very best at STACH. Here, the croissant is perfectly crispy in the layers but soft and fluffy on the inside, topped with a crunchy cheese crust. Just that savory touch that makes this croissant the perfect breakfast. Order a specialty coffee or tea to go with it and take your time to enjoy the anticipation of your trip in peace. View all STACH locations at Schiphol here >>

The Coffee Salon – fresh apple pie

Believe me: when you're standing in line at De Koffiesalon, the smell of fresh apple pie is hard to resist. Have you perhaps already had a light breakfast at home? Then, as far as I'm concerned, this is the perfect pre-boarding 'breakfast' for which there is always room. Not too sweet and maybe with whipped cream! Just because you can, and after all, the holiday starts at Schiphol! View the locations of De Koffiesalon here >>

The Butcher – eggs benedict

I think the new location of The Butcher at Schiphol is really great. It is widely known that you go here for really good burgers, but it is less well known that they also make very tasty breakfasts. The menu is incredibly extensive, from a full English breakfast to blueberry pancakes and a yogurt bowl. My favorite has to be the eggs benedict served on a croissant, with avocado and hollandaise sauce. You can also upgrade this dish with salmon or bacon, but this time I decided to keep it vegetarian. By the way, the atmosphere at The Butcher is lovely, with plenty of light and various types of seating. And are you heading to the gate afterwards? Then you can grab a coffee to go at STACH. Sushi & Noodles – fresh noodle soup

You could really wake me up for this. Fresh noodle soup for breakfast, just like I always order in Asia. Anyway, I absolutely love having something warm and savory for breakfast. I spotted this tasty breakfast at Sushi & Noodles, but later saw it at Kebaya as well, where you can take it to go from their deli corner. You can choose from various delicious fillings, from salmon to chicken and char siu. View the location here >>

Joe & The Juice – perfectly grilled sandwiches

I have to confess that I'm not a big bread eater, but I make an exception for the sandwiches at Joe & The Juice. A perfectly thin toasted bun made from sourdough rye bread that is freshly topped and toasted only after you place your order. The ultimate order for me remains the tunacado. It is just so delicious! You can also make it spicy by adding jalapeños. This sandwich is quite large, so ask the team if they can cut it in half. Perfect for sharing, or for eating the other half during the flight. You will be amazed at how deliciously crispy the bun stays! View the location at Schiphol here >>

Loaf Café – baguettes and cardamom buns

Are you team baguette? Then you want (no, *must*!) visit the new Loaf Café. They have fresh sourdough baguettes topped with various tasty options, from meat to vegetarian. During my last flight within Europe, I grabbed the cardamom bun there, and it is *so* good. Truly perfect for breakfast. View the location at Schiphol here >>

Kebaya – dim sum

This is one of the breakfasts I make at home quite often. If you like having bread or yogurt for breakfast, it might sound like a lot of work… but really: it isn't. I was so surprised to see dim sum on the breakfast menu at Kebaya. I just *had* to order this! I’ve eaten quite a lot of dim sum in my life and I think they really do make this themselves, because the filling contained some unique, non-standard ingredients. Incredibly delicious, and I could have easily eaten two portions. Reason enough to go back soon when I’m at Schiphol! I think the window seat at Kebaya is so nice. There’s always something going on outside at the gates and there’s always something to see. Great for solo travelers too! View the location here >>
