The Albert Cuyp Market is open six days a week (Monday through Saturday), of course, but browsing this famous spot on the weekend is secretly the most enjoyable – despite the crowds. Anyone who's ever been knows the atmosphere is friendly, the bargains are good, and the food is even more delicious. But with the sheer number of stalls and restaurants, it's hard to see the forest for the trees. So, here's the ultimate Your Little Black Book list of our favorites. These are the tastiest stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market for all your snacks, delicacies, and meals.

Osaka Ball

For the tastiest Japanese street food at the Albert Cuyp Market, go to Osaka Ball You've come to the right place. They have, among other things, incredibly tasty Japanese octopus balls and also the well-known Japanese cabbage pancakes (okonomiyaki). For those with a sweet tooth, finish off with homemade mochi. A must!

Albert Cuyp pancakes

In our opinion, a visit to a market isn't complete without a serving of traditional Dutch poffertjes. Our advice, and that of the makers, is to eat them with nothing more than a knob of butter and a dusting of powdered sugar. This preserves the flavor best.

Fishmonger Siem Schilder & Sons

For incredibly fresh fish, you've come to the right place at Siem Schilder & Zonen Fishmongers. Several generations have passed through here (hence the name) and they truly make time for you. Whether you're looking for a herring or a full-on fish platter, you're guaranteed to find what you're looking for at Siem Schilder & Zonen. You'll find them at number 149.

The Fresh Bread Stall

Admit it: there's nothing quite like freshly baked bread and croissants. They know that at De Verse Broodkraam, because they bake amazing bread. From madeleines to half loaves of white bread, sugar loaves, and quiches: they have something for everyone.

Twins Olives

You'll recognize them by the large, waving flag with their logo and the cheerful group of young men behind the stall: Twins Olives is the ultimate stall for Mediterranean delicacies, including perhaps the tastiest black olives we've ever tasted. Their various hummus varieties are also equally excellent, as are their freshly made sandwiches that you can eat standing up.

Vlaardingen Herring Trade

No market is complete without the distinct smell of North Sea fish. This also applies to the Albert Cuyp market, and as you walk towards Vlaardingen Herring Market, your nose will quickly tell you if you're in the area. Despite the smell, this fishmonger is renowned for its herring with gherkins. One of the tastiest stalls at the Albert Cuyp market.

Van Rheenen & Son

Competing with the stall above, but just as good: Van Rheenen en Zoon. Their slogan, "The undisputed best herring specialist is here," has been for good reason. They're absolutely right, and the long queues on weekends are living proof.

Greg Monsieur

A true institution in the Pijp: Greg Monsieur at the Albert Cuyp Market. This stall offers ten different toasted sandwiches, some of which change each weekend. Greg's Madame is one of their most popular dishes; a generously filled toasted sandwich with onion, ham, cheese, and a fried egg.

Rudi's Original Stroopwafels

The stroopwafel is perhaps the greatest invention of Dutch cuisine. It's quite a statement, but after tasting the warm cookies from Rudi's Original Stroopwafels, you'll probably agree. Rudi's stall is proof that stroopwafels are no longer just for tourists.

Johan Kaas

Johan Kaas offers a wide variety of Dutch and international cheeses. He's always happy to provide you with comprehensive advice, no matter how busy he is. And just like at the herring stalls, you can quickly smell Johan's presence when you're nearby.

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre).
