Le Petit Bistro Amsterdam: little Paris on the canals!

4 March 2014

Le Petit Bistro Amsterdam is a new concept by Joris Bijdendijk

We love classic French bistros! And yourlbb is fan of Chef Joris Bijdendijk. So I’m very happy that Joris opened a new bistro concept called Le Petit Bistro at the Sofitel The Grand hotel in Amsterdam. Le Petit Bistro is located at the part of restaurant Bridges* that is located at the side of the garden. The interior is that of a classic Paris style bistro! With marmer tables and very cool looking cognac coloured leather chairs. Very sophisticated! What I really liked were the vintage pictures of The Grand. Did you know this building was the city hall once?

On the menu at Le Petit Bistro you find classic bistro dishes made with seasonal and local produce. And the good thing is… a 3 course bistro menu is only € 36,-. Of course you can order a la carte as well to make your own perfect menu.

As starter I had the salad of grilled shrimp and avocado with chilli flakes. Delicious! For my main course I didn’t stick with the bistro menu since I couldn’t resist the grilled lobster. And I’m very happy I ordered it. Very good! Served with fries and a salad. That’s all this dish needs.

Cheese is my favourite for dessert. And I can highly recommend to order a cheese plate at Le Petit Bistro! The cheese trolley has beautiful artisanal cheeses for you to choose. I always like the stories behind the different flavours.

Instead of a sweet dessert Le Petit Bistro serves great after dinner cocktails! The espresso Martini is a must try!

This spring Le Petit Bistro will open an outdoor concept too. Did you know that The Grand has a beautiful courtyard? I can’t wait to go back for cocktails with my love on a warm evening to try and test their garden concept. I promised not to tell anything yet… but will update this blog when the news is out ;-).

Enjoy your dinner at the bistro in the meanwhile!
