Long flight ahead? 5 comfortable airport and road trip outfits for a perfect start to your trip.

There's nothing more annoying than being cold on a plane. Or taking a long car ride in uncomfortable clothes. With the tips in this article, that won't happen to you this summer. Together with WE Fashion I've put together a dose of fashion inspiration for every travel moment!

While I used to primarily fly for Your Little Black Book, since becoming a mom, we've become #teamroadtrip more and more often. And you know what's great? I always see the outbound or return journey from a vacation as an opportunity to make the trip just that little bit more special. I call it a trip-within-a-trip! Whether it's a stopover in that one city you've been on your bucket list for so long, or a stopover town that instantly gets you in that real vacation mood during a road trip. YES, it makes the trip longer, but also much more fun and interesting!

Now, for short flights or car rides, what you wear doesn't really matter, but for longer trips, I'd always go for comfort. For long flights, I even have a few favorite outfits that I return to again and again. Especially because sometimes you depart in cold weather and arrive enveloped in a blanket of tropical heat. That's why I've teamed up with WE Fashion to create some great lookbooks for every travel occasion, featuring airport and road trip outfits that are not only comfortable but also look great!

5 Lookbooks for Great Travel Outfits

From cold to warm weather airport outfit

Sound familiar? You're going on vacation, and the temperature difference between your departure and destination might be ten to twenty degrees Celsius. You don't want to pack a heavy coat that you won't use at your destination, but you also don't want to be cold on the plane or at the airport. Layer up! For example, jeans, a T-shirt, a sweater, and a denim jacket. And pack a nice dress in your carry-on.

From left to right: T-shirt with print & high rise jeans // Pink blazer & pink sweater // Sunglasses & green and white summer dress // Top with broderie anglaise & denim chinos // scarf & denim jacket.

The always good airport outfit

If there's one outfit you can picture me in at the airport, it's palazzo pants with a cute top. Luckily, palazzo pants or, for example, linen trousers seem to be a trend that never goes away. Super comfortable thanks to the loose fit, but also very chic. Whether you pair it with a Breton stripe, a simple T-shirt, or a blouse, it's always a winner in my opinion!

From left to right: ribbed singlet, linen look cap, sweater with stripes & wide leg trousers // T-shirt with print & wide-leg linen trousers // Singlet with stripe, relaxed fit linen blend trousers, sunglasses & double-breasted blazer.

Zzzzzz, comfy night flight airport outfit

Do you have a really long flight ahead of you, with a significant time difference between home and destination? Then there's a good chance you'll have a night flight on your outbound or return trip. In that case, I can only advise you one thing: go for comfort! Luckily, brands like WE Fashion have fantastic loungewear in their collections that are not only comfortable during a night flight but also look great.

The perfect road trip outfit

Chances are you're going to be taking a relaxing road trip this summer thanks to the high airfare. I don't blame you, and I'm going to do exactly the same. Leave very early in the morning before the sun is up and only stop somewhere in the late afternoon for an overnight stay. Along the way, you might be responsible for catering and entertaining the kids in the backseat, just like me ;-). That's why you'll likely find yourself contorting yourself into the most uncomfortable positions during that long car ride to reach the cooler with sandwiches, or trying to retrieve dropped toys for the umpteenth time without being able to see where they are. My motto: clothes with lots of stretch or a loose fit.

From left to right: White denim jacket, Hoed & dress with floral print // Sunglasses, green shirt & green pants // Knitted top, belt & wide-leg trousers.

Good news: you've arrived at your destination, the weather is nice, and your road trip can really begin. You've mapped out a great route, and every few days you'll spend more time in the car to drive from destination A to destination B and then destination C. Along the way, you'll stop at beautiful sights and that one great restaurant for a leisurely lunch. What will you wear? Something comfortable, but still looking summery and vacation-ready for all the holiday photos at the stunning viewpoints along the way. Depending on your destination, always pack your swimsuit and a hammam towel in a bag for the journey. You never know where you'll end up!

From left to right: Linen blend blouse, sunglasses, bikini top & relaxed fit skirt // Hoed, Swimsuit, sarong, wicker look bag, top with broderie anglaise & skort with broderie anglaise.

Whatever kind of trip you're going on, these travel outfits will ensure a perfect start to your holiday. Of course, these tips are also easily applicable to (night) train travel. Happy holidays!
