Buitenpost Estate in Twello: family-friendly accommodation, dining and a barefoot path

Landgoed Buitenpost has now opened on the site where Hof van Twello was located for many years. A dream project that actually started with something much simpler: the desire of a group of friends to buy a farm to unwind, be outdoors, enjoy good food, and renovate. I still hear Aad from Bar Alt and Restaurant Jacobsz saying this last summer: “I am working on something that came my way quite spontaneously, and if it goes ahead, it will be something really cool.” Together with the men from Davo Bier in Deventer, he is opening Landgoed Buitenpost just outside Deventer this spring. Not in Overijssel, but in Gelderland, between Apeldoorn and Deventer. A twelve-hectare adventure! Landgoed Buitenpost will be a green oasis for unwinding. Featuring De Groene Huiskamer, a fine restaurant in the greenhouse where cooking will be done with products from their own land and the region. For the kids, a barefoot path; at Camping Buitenpost, safari tents where you can stay with the whole family or friends; a vineyard; and a regional shop where you can buy local products that come from the estate, among other sources. A hidden gem that – I predict – is going to become the ultimate family-friendly getaway.

The Green Living Room: eating in the greenhouse of the Buitenpost Estate

A beautiful name for the restaurant that immediately captures the essence. Dining in the greenhouse that feels like The Green Living Room of Buitenpost Estate. With Davo beers at the bar, of course. Dining surrounded by greenery, from Wednesday through Sunday. A dream: dishes made with ingredients grown in the greenhouse and on the estate. In the future, with wine from their own vineyard, but for now, at least, locally sourced. Dine inside or outside in the greenhouse garden. You've probably already guessed it: I can't wait to join you soon.

Impression of the plans

Barefoot path of the Buitenpost Estate

The barefoot path is a hit with kids and their parents! A 2,5-kilometer trail across the Buitenpost estate. Over grass and through mud, it's a fun way for kids (and parents!) to explore nature. The barefoot path is free for children up to four years old. It's open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM. And I can hear you thinking... what do I do with my dirty feet afterward? Rinse them off in the outdoor shower, then retrieve your valuables from your personal locker.

Camping Buitenpost, mini-campsite with a good restaurant

A mini-campsite, but more luxurious and with a good restaurant. Speaking for myself, this is the dream of every parent with young children who enjoys good food but is also looking for a fun place where the kids can play freely during a weekend getaway. At Camping Buitenpost, you'll spend the night surrounded by greenery. There will soon be twenty pitches for your own tent, campervan, or caravan, and four luxury safari tents. A perfect mix! Bikes are available for rent, and breakfast is delivered to your (safari) tent upon request.

Regional shop: Landgoed Buitenpost for home

It is no secret that I absolutely love estate and farm shops. If we go hiking somewhere on the weekend and I know there is an estate shop nearby, that is the place we stop to pick up tasty treats to take home. Landgoed Buitenpost will soon be selling products in the regional shop that come directly from the estate, such as vegetables, seeds, fruit, plants, wine, and beer. I predict this will become the shop where you pop in after checking out of the campsite to pick up tasty things to hold onto that holiday feeling a little longer. But of course, you will also visit the regional shop if you have eaten at the restaurant or visited the barefoot path!
