10 of the most colorful cities in the world for your bucket list

these are the most colorful cities in the world that you want to visit

I have a huge soft spot for color, so much so that for city breaks, I always choose cities with a cheerful color palette. Because let's be honest, it makes you happy too, doesn't it? And it really completes the picture you'll take home ;-) That's why I've compiled a list of the most colorful cities in the world—cities that deserve a place on your bucket list.

For example, the blue city of Chefchaouen in Morocco, which is painted blue for the faith, or the city of Prague, which is decorated in all the colors of the rainbow as a result of a youth resistance movement against communism. But also cities like Procida in Italy and Valparaiso in Chile are worth a visit. Let's travel!

10 colorful cities around the world for color addicts

Willemstad – Curacao: Curaçao is one of the most charming islands in the Caribbean. Besides the friendly people, the pleasant weather, and the beautiful beaches, it's also a colorful place.

Chefchaouen – Morocco: You've probably seen this blue city on TV, Pinterest, or in travel magazines. In Judaism, the color blue represents protection, and the locals found it so appealing that they painted the entire city blue. Incidentally, it also repels heat, because man, it can get hot in Morocco.

Bo-Kaap – South Africa: Bo-Kaap is the picturesque part of Cape Town. Bright shades of pink, blue, green, and orange wash over you. The blocky, colorful houses almost make you feel like you're in a Lego city.

Procida, Naples – Italy: Procida is a small island off the coast of Naples. It's relatively unknown, much to the delight of its residents. They're happy to share the tranquility, fresh fish, and colorful houses with just each other.

Guatapé – Colombia: Guatapé is the most colorful village in Colombia. The houses here are not only incredibly colorful, but often also decorated with the most beautiful paintings and colorful ornaments. It almost doesn't seem real!

Havana – Cuba: The country that's high on my list of places to visit: Cuba. Partly because of the colorful houses (and old cars and cigars, of course ;-)).

Prague – Czech Republic: Want to stay a little closer to home? Then Prague in the Czech Republic is definitely recommended. The warmly colored houses create a romantic atmosphere, especially when the sun shines. Perfect for a weekend getaway with your partner.

Valparaíso – Chile: Valparaíso is Chile's largest port city and also its most colorful. Houses are painted in every color of the rainbow, and as if that weren't fun enough, countless walls are also adorned with the most beautiful designs.

Guanajuato, Mexico: The colorful city of Guanajuato is one of Mexico's most beautiful cities, and is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A unique feature: the city has an underground tunnel system, which carries much of the traffic. Wonderfully peaceful!

Burano, Venice – Italy: Burano is an island in the Venetian Lagoon and is teeming with colorful houses. Each house has its own unique color—how fun is that?! It also has narrow canals and small bridges, which truly reminds you of Venice.
