Through my work, I've become a pro at finding gems. Although I have to say, you'll quickly find something you like at Eliza was here. No jumble of massive hotels here, but small-scale accommodations that feel like a home away from home. After several years of mostly long-distance travel in the summer, I was looking for a perfect destination for a seven-night trip this year. Greece it was! I'm pretty familiar with the Chalkidiki region in Greece by now. Although it's not an island, but a peninsula, you definitely experience the real island vibes here, if you ask me. Eliza Was Here has several beautiful hotels with which they collaborate, but my eye quickly fell on Kappa Luxury Villas & SuitesThe dream of every family traveling with kids who have swimming certificates. You book your own "villa suite" with a private pool so large you can truly enjoy a swim. Another advantage is the separate bedrooms with air conditioning, making it a wonderful place to stay with a family of up to six. The suites are part of a hotel and therefore have hotel amenities, but I have to admit that with such a wonderful private retreat, we didn't need to use any of them at all.

Kappa Luxury Villas & Suites boasts one of the most beautiful locations on the Kassandra Peninsula in Chalkidiki. It's located almost at the very tip of a nature reserve, where it's wonderfully peaceful. Within 15 to 40 minutes, you can reach the hustle and bustle, and just a 5-minute walk away is Blue, a delightful seaside taverna. The luxurious Navagos Beach Club is less than a 5-minute drive away. How do you get there? All Eliza was here trips to Greece include a car, giving you the freedom to explore the area at your own pace. I highly recommend a sunset cruise with Babasails from the marina near the hotel. So beautiful!

After a busy period, waking up at Kappa was just what I needed. A few laps at sunrise, followed by some reading with coffee by the private pool, and finally breakfast with the three of us. We booked a stay without breakfast, and I'd recommend it to you as well. For the price difference, you can pick up some tasty treats at the bakery and supermarket in the village (a 9-minute drive away).

There's also a Nespresso machine in the fully equipped kitchen. The only thing I really missed in the kitchen was a dishwasher, but even that has its charm. For lunch and breakfast, we regularly baked spanakopita in the oven. Delicious, and that way we made the most of our wonderful accommodations.
Sometimes we went to the beach early, other days we went late in the afternoon and spent our time by our own pool. At the end of the day, the sunset from our private terrace was the icing on the cake when we got home. We will definitely return to Chalkidiki, Greece, to discover another gem of Eliza was here!
