Kaagman en Kortekaas Amsterdam: we LOVE this new restaurant

31 August 2015

go french at Kaagman en Kortekaas Amsterdam

Foodies alert: the French bistro Kaagman & Kortekaas opened the doors in Amsterdam! Finally a real restaurant gem in the heart of the city center. A restaurant that goes in the same list as Rijsel and Wilde Zwijnen. With a relaxed vibe, but excellent food.

Ellis and I had a private lunch at Kaagman & Kortekaas before the official opening. We enjoyed talking to the guys very much to hear their story and to eat in their dream. Because the opening of Kaagman & Kortekaas is a dream come true! The restaurant is located in a building where there used to be a Russian salon. Can you imagine, looking at these photos?

You might know Kaagman en Kortekaas from Rijsel and Toscanini and now you can enjoy their hospitality and dishes at the Sint Nicolaasstraat.  A night out at Kaagman & Kortekaas in Amsterdam starts with a selection of charcuterie. Of course all home made! The rilette was my favourite but the  Dutch ‘Ossenworst’ was great as well!

MENU X KAAGMAN & KORTEKAAS AMSTERDAM

The Chefs menu at Kaagman & Kortekaas changes weekly. So there’s always a reason to go back! You can choose from 3-5 courses, starting at € 35,-. We enjoyed a delicious 3 course lunch. Chiel is a great Chef and I can’t wait to go back with my love for a night of wining and dining with the full 5 courses and cheese. Kaagman & Kortekaas also serves an a la carte menu. One of the dishes is a cut of meat that will change daily depending on what is the best offer of the day at their butcher.

Almost everything that you can eat at Kaagman & Kortekaas is made from scratch. And trust me, you will taste that! We had a great combination of veal to start with. YES, a tongue and it was so tender and delicious. A must try! We continued the culinary journey with fish and a cut of deer from the Dutch Veluwe. Make sure to leave some space for the desserts and coffee with friandaise!

Enjoy your dinner!
