Is your raincoat dripping on the coat rack again? Is Buienalarm now at the top of your most-used apps? Autumn has officially begun... and you can feel it. Yet there's a way to hold on to that free island feeling a little longer. Not with palm trees or beach sand between your toes, but with a good glass of whiskey in your hand.
De Scottish whisky makers from Jura, an island off the west coast of Scotland with 212 inhabitants (and four times as many deer), knows exactly how to do that. I recently attended one of their events for an extensive tasting and introduction to the brand. Here, it's all about simplicity, craftsmanship, and character! And I can tell you: their award-winning single malt whisky defies categorization. How best to enjoy it? Neat, on the rocks, or as a base for surprising cocktails.
On a stormy late summer evening by the water at Strandvier, I sampled four of their whisky cocktails and experienced the island vibe of Jura in my own country. Good news for all whisky lovers, because these cocktails are surprisingly easy to make at home! Below, I'm sharing the recipes for your next whisky & yap evening with friends.
