One of locals’ favorite brunch spot, Joseph Leonard New York

Now this part of Manhattan, West Village, is so beautiful that I suggest you take your timeto explore this neighborhood. You’ll love it.
But this will make you hungry! And when you’re hungry make a stop at Joseph Leonard New York at Waverly Place.

It looks so cute from the outside that I have to take a look inside. Expect hip-hop music, super nice waiters, and a laidback vibe. Don’t miss the pictures on the walls. These are the owners’ grandfathers. That’s also where this spot got its name from. Joseph and Leonard. This place can tell you a lot of stories…

Lucky me! Today is their annual dim sum brunch and I just happen to really like those little soft, steamed buns. Unfortunately I can’t tell you anything about the regular menu. Might just have to go back to test it.

In the weekends there’s usually a line for brunch, so be prepared. Joseph Leonard is famous amongst locals. And indeed, it looks like everybody knows each other here!
What about timing? I came in at around 3 on a Sunday and that might be the perfect time for you to go.
Do keep in mind that the kitchen for brunch/lunch closes at 4pm in the weekends (weekdays 3.30). But stick around to order dinner at 6pm.

It’s best if you’re a party of 2, because they only have 1 table for 4…
Or if you’re alone, order the Bloody Mary & beer chaser and enjoy the rest of your afternoon talking to complete but friendly strangers. ‘Cause that’s what this spot is also all about.

Too busy? What’s great is that they take your number and call you whenever your table is ready. Can’t wait any longer? Believe me, I know the feeling…
Here’s a backup plan… Across the street there’s Jeffrey’s Grocery (same owner), also a great spot if you ask me.

One more thing:
Don’t forget to play street fighter. It’s free”.
Don’t ask, just go there.
