John Dory is Amsterdam's first fish-themed restaurant
During my most recent canal walk, I suddenly discovered John Dory Vistronomie on the Prinsengracht. With this fish restaurant, Amsterdam has a new, unique concept! Everything here revolves around vistronomie. A term I'd never heard before. In other words: lots of fish dishes!

And not just any fish, because at John Dory they only serve fish caught in Dutch waters. So no salmon or tuna, which come from far away, but mackerel and lobster from close to home. The result? Deliciously refined dishes made with incredibly fresh fish – yum! Chef Arjan Wennekes, formerly head chef at Visaandeschelde, is happy to prepare the most delicious dishes for you.
The restaurant Located in a former warehouse dating back to 1680 on Prinsengracht, the restaurant comprises two floors. Each floor has a different concept. On the ground floor, you can enjoy a fine glass of wine and a tasty fish snack. Here, the focus is more on lounging. Upstairs, you'll find the fish restaurant, where you can dine extensively with your partner, friends, or family. Enjoy a 3, 4, 5, or even 6-course meal. And believe me, every course is worth it!
