Jinweide Amsterdam: here you can eat freshly made noodle soup as if it came straight from China

Anyone who's ever been to China is bound to be hooked on the freshly pulled noodles they prepare there. Fortunately, this trend is slowly spreading to our country, and that will accelerate even further with the arrival of Jinweide Amsterdam – the first Dutch branch of the Chinese chain.

Ambience and interior at Jinweide Amsterdam
Jinweide Lanzhou Beef Noodles is the very first Jinweide chain restaurant in China to open in the Netherlands. In Amsterdam Zuid, you can now enjoy freshly made noodle soup, just like you're in China.
The small open kitchen at the back of the room is a real eye-catcher, as chef Qian Zhou pulls the noodles right in front of you with grand gestures. He creates a truly spectacular display, after which he cooks the noodles for just a few seconds and adds them to the soup – just like they do in China.

Menu and dishes at Jinweide
At Jinweide Amsterdam, everything revolves around the famous noodle soup from the Lanzhou region, and the noodles are handmade right before your eyes. It works like this: you choose the thickness, and the chef takes care of the rest. You can choose from five different types of noodles, from ultra-thin to wide, flat noodles. The thicker the noodles, the more flavors from the broth are absorbed.
They serve a variety of regional dishes here, but the showpiece is undoubtedly the classic Lanzhou beef noodle soup. Made according to a traditional recipe, the soup includes thinly sliced beef, chili oil, radish, and garlic. It always comes with a crisp salad, which you can put together from the salad bar.
A typical evening meal for the Dutch, but in China they think differently about this: within the Hui Muslim community in Gansu, the dish is often eaten for breakfast.

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!
