Istanbul Food Travel Guide: 13 Must-Eat Addresses from the New Karsu's Turkey Program on 24Kitchen

In the new series "Karsu's Turkey" on 24Kitchen, chef Karsu takes you on a food journey through her parents' homeland. It's an ode to the colorful culture and the delicious flavors of her roots. The journey begins in Istanbul and takes you to hidden gems and culinary hotspots in this hip city. Especially for the launch of "Karsu's Turkey," I'm sharing a few of these recommendations with you!

It's become an incredibly special program, because Karsu also takes you to visit her family in the area now devastated by the earthquake. She describes it so beautifully and powerfully. The images and the unique food culture you'll see in the program are a blueprint of what it was and what it should be again.

The first episode of Karsu's Turkey airs on Saturday, September 30th at 9 PM on 24Kitchen!

Are you as much of a 24Kitchen fan as I am? Set a reminder in your calendar so you can tune in on time every Saturday night at 9 PM for the next eight weeks! Also handy: set your recorder so you don't miss a single episode of Karsu's Turkey.

These are the Culinary hotspots in Istanbul from Karsu's Turkey

Is your mouth watering just watching the trailers for the new show "Karsu's Turkey"? This map shows you the must-see spots for every foodie on a city break to Istanbul. From the best neighborhoods to restaurants and hidden gems! You can open the map below via this link and save it to your phone >>

Baylan – Bebek

Breakfast with a Bosphorus view? Baylan is a well-known spot among locals. This 100-year-old establishment has several locations throughout the city. Along with your breakfast, order a "kup griye," one of Istanbul's must-try dishes with ice cream, caramel, and nuts.

Köfteci Alibaba

Köfte is perhaps the most famous meat dish from Turkey. It's also a common street food item in Istanbul. A city trip isn't complete without trying it! Food writer Cemre Torun takes Karsu to this place, a well-known name among Istanbul locals.

alaf

At Alaf, street food is elevated to the next level! This hotspot is the perfect place for a leisurely dinner in Istanbul. Michelin has also acknowledged the delicacies, having awarded Alaf a Bib Gourmand!

HODAN

The Beyoğlu district is one of my favorites in Istanbul. This is where the young female chef Hodan has her restaurant. It's a gem you might not have discovered so quickly if Karsu hadn't mentioned it on her show. Hodan only has an Instagram page, and reservations can only be made by phone!

Ice cream date, anyone? One of the newest openings at Amstel1 is De Boule De Boule, an ice cream and pastry parlor just behind Waterlooplein. After trying it, I can confirm: the ice cream is really, really good. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗕𝗘 After seeing their Instagram, you might think of places like Folderol in Paris, the spot that became famous for pairing ice cream with wine. But De Boule De Boule feels different. Less destination wine bar, more day-time neighborhood café where you can stop by for homemade ice cream, a pastry, coffee and, yes, a glass of wine. Inside you'll find shelves filled with vinyl records, a display of freshly made ice cream and homemade pastries crafted by two in-house pastry chefs. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗗 Amstel1 is still being discovered by Amsterdam and it was a little quiet during our visit. I expect the vibe to only get better as more shops open and people find their way here. I'm especially curious to see how it feels this weekend with the market taking over the area for the first full weekend. This covered location with a courtyard feel is incredibly promising. 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗪𝗘 𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 • Olive oil & basil ice cream with sea salt • Chocolate ice cream with hazelnut topping • Paired with a glass of Chardonnay and an orange wine. All of the ice cream is made in-house and completely vegan. If nobody had told me, I honestly wouldn't have guessed. 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧 The ice cream is excellent, but what makes De Boule De Boule interesting is that it's more than an ice cream shop. It's a place for coffee, pastries, a glass of wine or drinks after a performance at the Stopera. And yes, I'm already planning to go back to try more flavors, but next time in the evening for a dessert after dinner elsewhere. Just to see how the space changes throughout the day. What would I order then? Very curious about the White Coffee ice cream! 𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗦 📍 De Boule De Boule @debouledeboule Amstel1, Waterlooplein Would you go for olive oil & basil or keep it classic? ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
Today marks 43 ☺️🎈 But when I look in the mirror, I still see that 28-year-old girl who, 15 years ago, had no idea she would turn her hobby into her job. Thanks for being there (perhaps for so long) to follow this adventure 🫶🏼❤️. ✖️✖️✖️ @anne_de_buck
