The ultimate Schiphol guide for intercontinental flights

If you have cleared security via Departure Hall 2 and are flying intercontinentally, you can enjoy good food at Bubbles, Kebaya, and The Butcher, among others, shop at luxury brands like Hermès and Louis Vuitton, and relax on the Holland Boulevard. This YLBB shortlistGathers my favorite stops before departure.

Are you flying intercontinentally from Schiphol? Then chances are you went through security via Departure Hall 2. And let's be honest: this is one of my favorite spots at Schiphol . Especially if we are flying around lunchtime or later, because for me, a departure from this hall isn't complete without a lobster roll at Bubbles Seafood & Winebar. I've said it before, but this really is the best lobster roll in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. I prefer to order a glass of champagne with it, and believe me: the holiday is instantly ON!

Recently, some renovations have taken place in Departure Hall 2, so on your next departure, there is likely plenty of new things for you to discover before heading to the gate. From good coffee and a pre-departure drink to extensive shopping at the beautiful luxury brands. And if you have a bit more time? Be sure to walk over to the Holland Boulevard. There you will find even more nice stops for coffee , breakfast , or dinner.

Unmissable food & drinks spots if you come through security via Departure Hall 2

What I really like about this departure hall is that you can easily walk towards the Holland Boulevard from there. There are a number of really great places to eat that I often return to. Also, don't forget the food spots located on the first floor of the departure hall. I have collected all my favorites here.

Kebaya & Kebaya Take-away

At Kebaya on the Holland Boulevard, I prefer sitting at a table by the window, with a view of the planes arriving and departing. The menu is full of Asian (fusion) dishes, from dim sum, sushi, and ramen to crispy duck and daging rendang for dinner . The breakfast here is also highly recommended, featuring dishes you won't find everywhere at Schiphol, such as the Japanese omelet with vegetarian fried rice. Don't have time to sit down for a long meal? Then stop by the takeaway counter, where, in addition to sushi, you can now also pick up onigiri for the road or on the plane. View the location and opening hours here >>

Frames

At Frames, it’s not just about food and drink, but also about design and art. The art and photography in the interior are inspired by the Stedelijk Museum and give this spot a unique atmosphere. You can stop by from breakfast to dinner for wine and various snacks, among other things. Fun detail: hop into the photobooth together before you leave for that first holiday photo and you’ll have a nice souvenir right away. View the location and opening hours here >>

Bubbles Seafood & Winebar

Bubbles Seafood & Winebar is the place at Schiphol to treat yourself and get into holiday mode immediately. Anyone who follows me on Instagram probably already knows what my go-to order is: a coupe of Ruinart champagne and the lobster roll. The tender lobster on brioche with creamy crayfish mayonnaise is truly the ultimate pre-departure treat for me. You're also in the right place for oysters. You can order the Irish Mór oysters by the piece, perfect with a glass of champagne. And if you really want to go all out? They even have caviar on the menu. Amsterdam Bread Co.

Whether you are departing early or flying later in the day, Amsterdam Bread Company is open 24/7. Built around the heart of an authentic Dutch windmill, the shop serves freshly baked, generously filled sandwiches made with local, seasonal ingredients. It is also great for a quick breakfast or lunch before heading to the gate. In the mood for something sweet? Then go for coffee with a slice of apple pie. View the location and opening hours here >>

Sushi & Noodles

Sushi & Noodles is a spot you can easily overlook because it's located on the first floor. And that would be a shame! You could really wake me up for this: you eat a bowl of fresh noodle soup there, exactly the way I like it best in Asia. You can choose from various varieties, including shrimp and pork belly. I find this ideal, especially for a long flight: nice and warm and savory, but not too heavy. Also nice: it's usually nice and quiet here. Furthermore, the menu includes sushi, gyoza, and poké bowls, among other things, which are also perfect for takeaway. Check the location and opening hours here >>

Lavazza

Coffee lovers, take note! Don't forget that you can also find great cafes on the first floor of Departure Hall 2. In my experience, it is often a bit quieter here, and I can almost always find a nice spot. At Lavazza, you can get classic coffees from 7:00 AM, as well as latte macchiatos, ristrettos, and rotating coffee specials. The relatively new location at the D-Pier is also a nice stop to grab a good coffee before heading to the gate. Read more coffee tips at Schiphol here >>

Heineken Bar

As far as I'm concerned, the Heineken Bar needs little introduction. This is simply *the* meeting point for trips with groups of friends. Whether you're traveling with your student club, sports buddies, or a group of friends, chances are the holiday starts here with a beer. It's that simple! stach

STACH on the Holland Boulevard is one of my regular stops when flying from Schiphol. For coffee, of course—I usually go for a classic cappuccino—but the seasonal specials and matcha are tasty too. Want to take something with you on the plane? Then I think this is one of the best takeaway spots at Schiphol for a good sandwich. And for a quick breakfast, the crispy cheese croissant is a favorite. Insider tip: take your coffee to the area behind the Holland Boulevard, near Rituals. There are comfortable lounge chairs there with a view of the planes. Check the location and opening hours here >>

The Butcher

In the mood for a good burger before heading to gate F? Then The Butcher is one of my favorites. I personally stay loyal to the classic The Butcher Burger, and my son is a fan by now too. In addition to various burgers, from beef and chicken to vegetarian options, the menu also features dishes such as sirloin, schnitzel, slow-cooked ribs, and the Codfather—their take on fish & chips. Traveling with children? The crispy chicken tenders with fries are always a hit with us. What I also like about The Butcher is the spacious layout with plenty of natural light and various seating areas. Perfect if you want to have a quiet meal before a long flight. Shopping when flying intercontinentally

Burberry

The Burberry store has recently been completely renovated, so it is definitely worth a visit if you want to do some last-minute shopping before departure. Personally, I find the iconic Burberry scarves particularly timelessly beautiful. It is truly an item you buy once and enjoy for the rest of your life. It is nice to take a look at the latest collection and colors while waiting for your flight. View the location and opening hours here >>

Today Duty Free

I prefer to claim the moment between security and boarding as a moment for myself ;-). No appointments, no to-do list, just finally some time to quietly try out a new perfume, test skincare, or pick out that perfect lipstick shade. At Today Duty Free, alongside the well-known beauty brands, you'll find favorites like Le Labo, Charlotte Tilbury, Aesop, Caudalie, and Nuxe, to name just a few from the new range. Don't skip the travel-size minis either. I can safely say that, as a proponent of carry-only luggage, this is my latest obsession. They have so many nice items now! Furthermore, you can of course still go here for drinks, champagne, and chocolate. View the location and opening hours here >>

Bulgari

Bulgari also has its own boutique after security if you are flying internationally. The focus here is primarily on the jewelry collection, featuring the colorful gemstones and distinctive designs for which the Italian luxury brand is so well known. The Serpenti watch has been on my wishlist for years. I find this such a special item, a real eye-catcher. View the location and opening hours here >>

Gucci

I actually always pop into Gucci for a quick look too if I have time to spare before departure. You can find bags, shoes, and small leather goods there, among other things. During my last visit, I particularly liked the denim bag collection. So definitely worth a look if you are flying internationally and have some time to shop. Hermès

New if you are flying intercontinentally is the Hermès boutique, and you will want to pop in for the extensive collection of iconic silk scarves alone. I own a Hermès scarf myself, and although it is definitely an investment, I am so happy with it. I wear it as a belt with jeans, tied in a triangle over a dress, or simply as a classic scarf. It is an item that instantly elevates any outfit! And with all those prints and colors in the store at Schiphol, it is especially lovely to just dream away for a moment about what your next purchase might be. Louis Vuitton

The Louis Vuitton store is a must-visit whenever I’m at Schiphol and flying intercontinentally. My tip for anyone still looking for a good carry-on bag: the Louis Vuitton shopper. It really fits an incredible amount, which is why I find it ideal for the plane, and it can take a beating. I am also a big fan of my LV bum bag. Especially during a city trip, I wear it crossbody almost nonstop. The size is just right for everything I want to have close at hand, and my belongings are safely stored away. Two bags that, as far as I’m concerned, are not only beautiful but, above all, very practical for traveling. View the location and opening hours here >>

My favorite relaxation spots before I go boarding

Especially when I'm traveling without my family, Schiphol means ME-TIME for me! It is therefore no coincidence that I have tips on the best spots to relax for a moment as soon as you've cleared security. Then, head towards the gate at your leisure, and your holiday or business trip can begin.

  • Go to the for a quick massage Xpresspa on the first floor. The neck, shoulder, and back massage is my favorite here, and they can give it in just thirty minutes.
  • Don't tell anyone, okay? ;-) But you can find the absolute best lounge chairs on the Holland Boulevard between Stach and the Rituals store. I'm secretly still hoping that the Rituals store will open a mind-spa there, just like on the flights within Europe. Fingers crossed! Curious what that is? In this article, I tell you all about it >>

| TIPS FOR PARKING AT SCHIPHOL: Are you arriving by car? Then you have two good options. P3 Long-Term Parking is the most affordable choice. Available as a covered garage or open lot, with a free shuttle every 10 minutes that takes you to the terminal within 5 minutes. Want it even easier? Then choose P6 Valet Parking: you park, hand over your keys, and walk directly to the departure hall via a covered route. Convenient: P6 also has charging stations for electric cars. Reservations for P6 are mandatory, but always recommended for P3. Click here for more information & reservations >>
