โThe best Korean in Switzerland, now also in Amsterdam,โ headlined Het Parool recently. And so it is: with InSaeng, Amsterdam Centre has gained a new top-notch Korean. It is a bar, art gallery, and restaurant in one. They serve a selection of Kimchi, Bulgogi, and Bibimbap with matching cocktails. Enough reason to head to InSaeng Amsterdam immediately.
Why you should go to InSaeng Amsterdam as soon as possible
InSaeng owners Yoo-Sung Jang and Anudari Bumdari had planned to open their own business for some time, but the pandemic threw a spanner in the works. When the worst coronavirus period was over, it felt safe to start with a food truck that attracted large crowds at many festivals. Their secret?ย Undoubtedly, theย fried chicken always had a steady queue.ย This was followed by a small Korean restaurant in Zurich, which soon became popular withย Switzerland’sย crรจme de la crรจme.

For over 25 years, both the food truck and the restaurant in Zurich have been serving recipes from Yoo-Sung’s mother, who moved from Seoul to Switzerland with her husband. Their overwhelming success in Switzerland led them to Amsterdam – as the desire to open another business had been present for years.ย Thus,ย InSaeng Amsterdam was bornย at the corner of Goudsbloemstraat and Lijnbaansgracht.
As you may have noticed, this place is all about refined Korean dishes passed down from generation to generation, with a personal twist from Yoo-Sung’s mother.ย She is expected to join theย Amsterdam kitchen soon if all goes well. For now, Yoo-Sung himself is in the kitchen, as no one can replicate his mother’s recipes as faithfully as he can.ย The menu features variousย bibimbap bowls andย sharing dishes (such as theย chimaek setย for two), but also the world-famousย fried chickenย andย kimchi jeon – pancakes with kimchi – are an absolute must.ย So, head to the Jordaan.
