IJver Amsterdam: this is the restaurant at the NDSM wharf you want to know

With the opening of restaurant IJver Amsterdam on the NDSM Werf In the North, we have yet another reason to take the ferry more often. The men spent five years working on permits, design, and construction, and honestly, the results are impressive. Zeal Amsterdam is located in the industrial shipbuilding shed best known as the 'IJ-hallen' (after the flea market held there monthly).

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre). PUUR JONNIE, an ode to Jonnie Boer. Today I had the honor of being at @delibrijezwolle for the book launch of @jonnie_en_therese. I spent the entire evening reading and browsing. WHAT A BOOK. This is your ticket to Japan without taking a plane 🥢 @tewatashi.ams in De Pijp serves an authentic Edo-Mae Sushi Experience and is super consistent in their quality. It's the place we keep going back to when we have something to celebrate <3. In this video I'm sharing the 2 hour experience in 60 seconds. Still dreaming about the buttery ika nigiri. 🤤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam serving premium sushi omakase in De Pijp }

If you walk onto the NDSM site from the ferry, you will find the entrance to this new hotspot in Amsterdam North On the left side of these enormous halls. An added bonus: in good weather, there's a terrace overlooking the street art of the adjacent street art museum.

IJver Amsterdam is literally located in the Shipbuilding shed

What I really love about IJver Amsterdam is that you immediately feel like this hotspot has been there for years. As soon as you step inside the café-restaurant, nothing suggests they're the newest addition to the shipyard. Even the other guests sit there as if they're regulars. The atmosphere feels good; the whole place is perfect. A new building has literally been built in the shipbuilding shed for the restaurant. And so at IJver, you can actually sit outside on the terrace, sit outside in the shed (which feels a bit like an industrial greenhouse), or inside the actual restaurant (and therefore in the new building).

Also suitable for groups

The upper floor of IJver Amsterdam features several comfortable nooks and crannies perfect for people-watching in the restaurant downstairs. You also have a view of the enormous beer barrels, and there are spaces available for rent for events or large groups. We happened to be without Manuel the night we dined at IJver, but you can easily bring the kids. There are even plans for a play area!

Hundreds of beers that you can take from the beer fridge yourself

You might be familiar with wine bars where you can pour your own wine with a pre-paid card? At IJver Amsterdam, it works much the same way, but for a wide variety of specialty beers. You can also reserve a spot at the high bar tables where you have your own tap. Something we've also spotted before at Oslo Beers All the way on the other side of town. The long bar at IJver is definitely perfect for drinks with friends!

The menu at IJver Amsterdam

On a beautiful late summer Sunday evening, we enjoyed a full tasting at IJver. The dishes are a fusion of French and Dutch cuisine, and the ingredients are sourced from Holland whenever possible. Something you can't go wrong these days, in our opinion. Their passion for beer is reflected in the menu, as they always recommend a matching beer for each appetizer and main course, creating the perfect beer-and-food pairing.

We started with the zucchini flower (something I'd had at an Italian restaurant before, but hadn't seen on a menu in Amsterdam very often) and the Kannibaal toast (steak tartare with kimchi, among other things). Both were delicious! Then I went for the farm chicken, which was incredibly delicious. Boneless, rolled in its own skin, it was wonderfully juicy.

IJver Amsterdam is one to remember! Or better yet: to visit for dinner yourself sometime soon. Enjoy!
