Iberco ham heaven at Ibericus tapas bar in Amsterdam

Or perhaps I should say *at* this delicatessen shop in Amsterdam, because you can also just pop in to pick up some delicious Iberico ham to take home! This delicatessen shop / tapas bar is a nice addition to the more traditional food shops on Haarlemmerstraat. I’m happy to cycle there! You see, I love Spanish hams as a snack with a good glass of wine for a relaxed evening at home watching a movie. But the best part is actually pulling up a chair at one of the tables at Ibericus itself. This tapas bar in Amsterdam serves a cozy glass of wine in the back of the shop. Make sure you are the one ordering the ham at the counter, because the staff are happy to let you sample everything and you can indicate exactly what you like. More or less earthy flavor, fatty or not… at this tapas bar in Amsterdam, they probably have a hundred different hams hanging! I recently went for drinks with friends at Ibericus; highly recommended and something different for a change. Once inside, you don't feel like you're in Amsterdam at all; instead, you imagine yourself in Madrid in a narrow side street among the locals. By the way, you can also have lunch at Ibericus, and they have delicious Spanish cheeses for vegetarians. This tapas bar in Amsterdam closes at 19 pm. Tip: go for drinks at Ibericus before heading to the movies at The Movies further down the street. For those unfamiliar with The Movies, this is the best cinema in Amsterdam.

If you are in the mood for a Spanish evening and are looking for a tapas bar in Amsterdam that stays open late, Pata Negra is highly recommended. Pata Negra has several locations in Amsterdam: on Utrechtsestraat (highly recommended) and near Oosterpark in Amsterdam East (especially nice in the summer with a terrace).
