Van der Helstplein Amsterdam is a charming square in De Pijp district, home to a surprising number of great hotspots, just a stone's throw from Sarphatipark. It's a bit quieter here than the more well-known squares in the area, but just as atmospheric. From wood-fired pizzas to modern Indian dishes and great spots for drinks, this lively square has a wide variety of options. Here are the 10 hotspots to remember at Van der Helstplein Amsterdam.
This isn't just our favorite in De Pijp, but in all of Amsterdam. Here you can enjoy truly delicious food in a pleasant atmosphere with super enthusiastic service. And a big plus: the menu changes weekly, so you won't get bored of it anytime soon.

Here you can enjoy one of the tastiest pizzas in De Pijp and the surrounding area. From a wood-fired oven, they offer a truly authentic Italian flavor. Reservations are recommended, as they're always busy! When the sun shines, they have a lovely, spacious terrace.

On Van der Helstplein square, you'll find Miri Mary, a modern Indian restaurant with a strikingly stylish interior and a large, sunny terrace. The menu is packed with delicious Indian dishes, perfect for sharing. Pair your dinner with one of the cocktails, and you're all set for a long evening of dining.

For anyone who loves ramen—and we certainly do at Your Little Black Book—Kitchen Impossible is a must-see. This 100% plant-based ramen bar is the sister restaurant to the popular Men' Impossible and serves vegan ramen without compromising on flavor. Expect deep umami, fresh noodles, and a creative twist on classic Japanese dishes. Small, atmospheric, and a welcome addition to the culinary offerings at Van der Helstplein.

Not on the square itself, but this one definitely belongs on the list of hotspots at Van der Helstplein! A really great wine bar with a terrace to match. They promise to serve wines that won't give you a hangover... we definitely have to try that, right?

Peppi Deli is a delightful vegetarian deli and bistro on Van der Helstplein, serving fresh, homemade dishes. Everything is mostly organic, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Think Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences, seasonal menus, and weekly changing dishes.

A pleasant, no-nonsense traditional pub with a terrace, perfect for a drink or a bite to eat. The terrace is large, but the interior is even smaller, but it has a lovely, homely atmosphere.

Delicious pizzas, perfect for a quick bite. These pizzas have a delicious thin crust and are cooked in a wood-fired oven. The antipasto starter is also highly recommended!

Perfect for a hot day. It's across from De Pizzakamer, so it's also a great place for dessert after dinner. Authentic Italian gelato and a wide variety of flavors. Delicious! It's often incredibly busy, though, so chances are you'll have to wait in line.

Owned by the same owners as the pizzeria, as the name suggests. No pizzas here, but Italian delicacies. They offer various antipasti, pasta, and be sure to check out the extensive wine list!
