One of the nicest streets in Amsterdam East Javastraat is Amsterdam's favorite street. Full of shops and products from all over, as well as super trendy hotspots. At the local shops, you can buy the best vegetables, bread, herbs, and spices. Afterward, you can relax at a nice coffee bar, lunchroom, or restaurant. In this blog post, we share our favorite spots to visit on Javastraat (and Javaplein) in Amsterdam. Have fun!
In the always lively and bustling Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. A modern French bistro with a menu packed with the best of France, it'll make you feel like you're in Paris. The interior is absolutely stunning! Another thing I really love about this new Amsterdam restaurant is the charming nooks and crannies throughout the space.

At Badhuis, you can enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks, dinner, and more drinks: this is the ultimate destination for all your needs. Amsterdam OostThe owners asked the neighbors what they hoped the renovated Badhuis would become, and most agreed: a place that represents connection. In whatever form: from communal game nights to music programming to an "extension of your living room."

At Bar Bachrach, they serve delicious dishes inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, combined with seasonal Dutch ingredients. Come here for a good glass of wine and shared dining. Let the chef surprise you with the frequently changing menu.

My favorite spot on Javastraat for lunch is Tigris & Eufraat. This is the place to go for delicious sandwiches with things like halloumi, but the absolute best are the flatbreads with Syrian shawarma. It can get quite busy on weekends, but I still think it's worth the trip! In the refrigerated section of this food shop, they also sell delicious snacks to take home, perfect for drinks.
For coffee, cocktails, and football, head to De Jonge Admiraal. Located at Javastraat 149, you'll find this cozy café with a relaxed atmosphere where you're sure to find a seat.

MITTS on Javastraat has a unique "casual Eastern Mediterranean" menu. MITTS offers both shared dining (recommended) and an à la carte option. Both are excellent, and you can truly taste the flavors of the Mediterranean here.

Spaghetteria has countless locations, but the one at Javaplein is and remains one of our favorites. As with all the other locations, you're in the right place for a delicious plate of pasta and tasty antipasti. No reservations, but always a spot.

Café Gijs de Rooy is as simple and iconic as its name suggests. This place is a classic traditional Dutch pub, with meatball sandwiches and hamburgers on the menu, of course. Perfect for dropping in for a drink, a simple dinner, or a game of billiards.

At Javaplein, you'll find the tastiest chicken in town at Franggo Oost. Prepared Portuguese-style with delicious piri-piri spices and always fresh, every chicken lover will find something to their liking. Oost is already the third location of this restaurant.

This restaurant on Javaplein has been a Yourlbb favorite for years! They serve fantastic fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The wooden tables with old school chairs, a splash of white, and industrial elements create a pleasant, cozy atmosphere.

@eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember.
Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤
Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here!
📍 Eetcafé de Reiger

Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too!

A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?
🍴 Labskaus with caviar
🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar
🍴 Game pie
🍴 Dry aged Duck
TIP: If you go to Sühring, reserve the seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work!

In this reels I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three Michelin starred restaurant Sühring.

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.
📍In this video, I show where you can fill your bucket.
Comment oester for the comprehensive guide with all details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules.
Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.
In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them without much effort. Leave a comment and I'll send it to you right away!
Who do you want to go oyster collecting with soon?
