One of the nicest streets in Amsterdam East Javastraat is Amsterdam's favorite street. Full of shops and products from all over, as well as super trendy hotspots. At the local shops, you can buy the best vegetables, bread, herbs, and spices. Afterward, you can relax at a nice coffee bar, lunchroom, or restaurant. In the always lively and bustling Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. A modern French bistro with a menu packed with the best of France, it'll make you feel like you're in Paris. The interior is absolutely stunning! Another thing I really love about this new Amsterdam restaurant is the charming nooks and crannies throughout the space.

Bathhouse
At Badhuis, you can enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks, dinner, and more drinks: this is the ultimate destination for all your needs. Amsterdam OostThe owners asked the neighbors what they hoped the renovated Badhuis would become, and most agreed: a place that represents connection. In whatever form: from communal game nights to music programming to an "extension of your living room."

At Bar Bachrach, they serve delicious dishes inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, combined with seasonal Dutch ingredients. Come here for a good glass of wine and shared dining. Let the chef surprise you with the frequently changing menu.

Purnama
On Javastraat in Amsterdam East, you'll find almost everything: from Asian supermarkets and traditional cafés to trendy cocktail bars and fresh bakeries. What was missing until recently was a good Indonesian restaurant. Fortunately, the revamped Purnama has now changed that for good.

Tigris & Euphrates
My favorite spot on Javastraat for lunch is Tigris & Eufraat. This is the place to go for delicious sandwiches with things like halloumi, but the absolute best are the flatbreads with Syrian shawarma. It can get quite busy on weekends, but I still think it's worth the trip! In the refrigerated section of this food shop, they also sell delicious snacks to take home, perfect for drinks.
The Young Admiral
For coffee, cocktails, and football, head to De Jonge Admiraal. Located at Javastraat 149, you'll find this cozy café with a relaxed atmosphere where you're sure to find a seat.

Mids
MITTS on Javastraat has a unique "casual Eastern Mediterranean" menu. MITTS offers both shared dining (recommended) and an à la carte option. Both are excellent, and you can truly taste the flavors of the Mediterranean here.

Spaghetteria
Spaghetteria has countless locations, but the one at Javaplein is and remains one of our favorites. As with all the other locations, you're in the right place for a delicious plate of pasta and tasty antipasti. No reservations, but always a spot.

Café Gijs de Rooy is as simple and iconic as its name suggests. This place is a classic traditional Dutch pub, with meatball sandwiches and hamburgers on the menu, of course. Perfect for dropping in for a drink, a simple dinner, or a game of billiards.

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!
