11 X Food & drinks on Jan Evertsenstraat Amsterdam

Fort Nine

This bakery on Jan Evertsenstraat is a real favorite among locals and foodies from further afield. At Fort Negen, you'll find top-quality sourdough bread, croissants with surprising fillings (both sweet and savory), and often something special off the baking sheet on weekends. Think seasonal specials like a half croissant with soft serve ice cream. There's almost always a line out the door, and we understand why.

Rossi

For sandwiches with a Mediterranean twist, a visit to Rossi Sandwiches is a must. The menu features generously filled sandwiches with combinations like spicy Nduja with gorgonzola or zucchini with stracchino. Everything is homemade and packed with flavor. Tip: don't miss the display of sweet pastries, because the homemade sweets change daily and are just as delicious as the sandwiches.

Flying

Volare is the kind of place you'll want to linger for, whether it's for a leisurely Italian lunch, a boozy brunch, or an evening of antipasti, pizza, and pasta. The menu is compact but well-thought-out: every pizza is delicious and complemented by refined Italian dishes and a fine wine selection. Start or end your evening with a cocktail at Bomboloni's, the bar in the same building, and don't forget the homemade limoncello.

Fred's Nephew

One of the finest waterfront terraces in Amsterdam-West? Find it at Fred's Neef. This all-day spot is perfect for a long lunch, a spontaneous drink, or a relaxed evening with friends. The menu features tasty snacks, as well as old-school classics like "vlamtjes" (small Dutch snacks) and mini-frikandellen (fried meatballs). Add a cold beer or cocktail, and you'll understand why no one wants to leave anytime soon.

The Beer Garden

A staple for beer lovers in Amsterdam, the West location also boasts a large terrace where you can soak up the sun until late. There are plenty of beers on tap to explore, and the menu is packed with delicious classics. Be sure to order the fall-off-the-bone spare ribs, with garlic sauce, of course, or go for a (beyond) cheeseburger. Always a hit.
