Looking for a short city break or a day trip in your own country? Then consider Venlo! It's compact, easily accessible, and perfect for a night out combining fun hotspots with relaxing in nature. Wander through the charming Festina Lente streets, enjoy coffee on a cozy (winter) terrace in good weather, walk historical and art routes, and discover all the museums and sights in 48 hours. The city certainly surprised me; from all the delicious restaurants to the pubs and charming shops. Venlo is known for its typical Limburg conviviality, and I couldn't agree more! In this new Venlo City Guide, I'll take you south and tell you which addresses you definitely don't want to miss during a night out in this vibrant city on the Meuse River.

Are you a cocooner or do you prefer to get outdoors? In our Snowy Amsterdam Guide, I share my favorite winter tips for this weekend in the city.
Save it – because snow days like this are rare 🥰
Do you have any great winter tips for Amsterdam? I'd love to read along!

First of all: thank you for being here to close out 2025 <3.
2025, you were everything I hoped you would be and more. So many new memories.
I don't yet know what 2026 will bring, but last year was one for the books. Highlights included trips to China, Mexico City, Egypt, and exploring the English countryside.
Entrepreneurs probably recognize that 2025 was not an easy year.
When I started Your Little Black Book, I had one dream: not to work to stay somewhere for free in exchange for content and the pressure of a "picture perfect" experience. But to use my revenue models to book and experience those special places myself, as a guest instead of an influencer, and to give you honest tips.
After almost 15 years of entrepreneurship, I'm so happy with the balance between editorial and commercial work and that I can also say no to things that don't feel right.
At the same time, it's still special that destinations, airlines, and hotels hire me to create a customized Little Black Book for them. I have complete freedom with these campaigns, and I believe in the value of these content-based tips that truly suit your taste. And they come from me personally, not from a machine.
So thank you for your support when you see #yourlbbcollab, #pressstrip or #prinvited ;-).
This will always be my dream job, the one I created almost 15 years ago. I still do as much as possible myself. That's energizing—from both successes and failures.
Luckily, I have a small team that helps with certain sections, and this year we're going through all the tips critically. What's still truly fun, and what's not?
As a leisure expert and queen of curation, I'm so excited to take yourlittleblackbook.me to the next level. Even though being an online entrepreneur requires constant attention and doesn't always come naturally, I wouldn't want anything else.
My mission remains: making your life easier.
So you don't have to search, but can simply choose well.
So glad you were here this year. Without you, there would be no Your Little Black Book 🖤
See you in 2026!
With love,
@anne_de_buck

I have always been part of the family and have always been proud of my work. I have a nice garden in my garden 🗝️👀
Mark your calendars! Because on January 17th and 18th, Hotel Night returns to Amsterdam with a year-round event packed with health and wellness events, and of course, legendary parties you'll be talking about all year long.
I got a sneak peek at The Art of Balance theme at the luxurious Anantara Krasnapolsky and arranged a similarly special experience for you as a YLBB follower.
And in my opinion:
• overnight stay for 2 people in a luxury room on January 17, 2026
• access to the spa & wellness (subject to availability via the wellness desk)
• pre-dinner cocktail at Bar The Tailor
• fully catered dinner from the chef
• passe-partouts for the Hotel Night parties
• extensive breakfast in the Winter Garden
• participation in unique Ice Experience in Krasnapolsky Summergarden
And in Flanders:
• let us know who you would like to check in with at Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky during the Mastercard Hotel Night
• download the Mastercard Hotel Night app where you can see the complete program
• and take a look at @hotelnacht and @anantarakrasnapolsky for the latest updates and to get the fun started!
The winner will be notified on January 5th in a comment from @hotelnacht that I will share in my stories.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Love,
Anne

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!
And now the best news:
I can surprise one of you with a dream night away at VIA Antwerp. 💛
And in my opinion
• Overnight stay for 2 people
• Breakfast included
• Chef's Dinner at MEA
And in Flanders
• Let us know in the comments which friend you would like to stay here with
• Of course, take a look at @viaantwerp & @mea.antwerp to dream away and follow their updates
The winner will be notified personally via DM on December 10th.

HAPPY ALMOST WEEKEND IN AMSTERDAM
Comment 'weekend' and I'll send you all 32 tips in the new Amsterdam Weekend Guide for December 4, 5, 6 & 7 ✖️✖️✖️

Just a stone's throw from the station, on the edge of the city center, you'll find the charming design hotel Mr. Jigs. I do say "edge of the city center," but in Venlo's case, that means you're just a few minutes' walk from the city's best hotspots. Everything at Mr. Jigs is a little different and unfussy. Mr. Jigs is all about unexpected luxury. No unnecessary items in the room, minimalist design, but a super fluffy bed. The rooms come in four different categories (comfort room, deluxe room, suite, and family room), and each one is a little different. They go all out at the bar, where you can enjoy a nightcap after dinner. They serve their own gin and tonic, which is definitely worth trying! In the morning, there's no outdated breakfast buffet, but a freshly baked croissant and a good cup of coffee. You don't need anything more than Mr. Jigs as a great base for your city break in Venlo!
Cologne Gate 16, Venlo, mrjigs.nl

There's no shortage of great restaurants and cafes in Venlo where you can enjoy a drink while shopping. I've compiled a list of my favorites, along with some tips from followers who live in Venlo.
I've mentioned it before: Keizerstraat is one of the most beautiful streets in Venlo. If you're here in the summer, book a table on the terrace at Bij de Buren, because they have such a romantic terrace next to the church. Almost like being abroad! But... it's also a wonderful place to be in the winter, as I've personally experienced. Bij de Buren recently revamped its concept, and now you can visit this gastrobar for delicious culinary dishes designed for shared dining. This gastrobar shares a building with a record store, and during the day, both are open. It's no wonder, then, that you'll see several references to music at Bij de Buren, such as the menus featuring LP covers. But of course, you come here for the food, and it's simply delicious.
Keizerstraat 6, Venlo – proevenbijdeburen.nl

At the Neighbors
If you're looking for the perfect Instagram hotspot in Venlo, Mocca Coffee Company is the place to go for breakfast or lunch. Not only do they serve the best coffee in Venlo, they also have a cheerful interior with colorful walls, velvet chairs, and neon artwork on the walls. If, like me, you love unique coffees or a delicious iced latte, you've come to the right place. The food is also delicious and photogenic. I went for the Eggs Benedict with salmon, and I highly recommend it! Visiting Venlo with kids? They also have a special kids' menu with babyccinos, kid-friendly toasted sandwiches, waffles, and pancakes.
Old Market 3, Venlo – moccacoffeecompany.nl

Mocca Coffee Company
Did you know that Venlo has had its own food hall since this year? You might recognize the name from Hilversum, where I've previously recommended this great food hall. In Venlo, you can visit Foodhall Mout for street food from all over the world, from China to Italy. You can also enjoy drinks here; the drinks menu is incredibly extensive, from juices to delicious coffees, and later in the day, they offer a wide selection of specialty beers, wines, and cocktails. Fancy sampling flavors from around the world and enjoying shared dining? Then head to Foodhall Mout! Fun fact: the same building as MOUT also houses the brewery of Venlo's De Klep beer. Visiting Venlo with kids? Foodhall Mout has a dedicated kids' corner, and on Sundays, they regularly organize fun activities, such as a movie theater.
Dean of Oppensingel 6, Venlo, moutvenlo.nl

Foodhall MOUT Venlo
De Postij is a restaurant with many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. They use local suppliers and produce, and this is clearly explained on the menu. The restaurant is part of the Van Bommel van Dam Museum and is located in a former post office; hence the name. Have lunch at De Postij before visiting the museum, or end your day here with a delicious drink and snack. The flammkuchen on the menu is highly recommended!
Keulsepoort 1, 5911 BX Venlo – deposterij.nl

The Post Office
If you're spending a weekend in Venlo, you'll find Milk and Cookies a popular hotspot. It's almost always packed. And for good reason! This is the place to be for delicious cakes and pastries, coffee and juices, and you can also enjoy a tasty lunch. If you're planning a weekend lunch, be sure to reserve a table in advance. And if you're bringing the kids, they have a fun play area! Weather permitting, they also have a lovely terrace.
Parade 64, 5911 CE Venlo – milkandcookies.nl

Milk and Cookies
Looking for a cultural evening during your city break in Venlo? Then head to Grenswerk, the city's pop venue. Here you'll find everything from concerts and large parties to performances and drinks. And even if you're not attending a performance, Grenswerk is a must-see. Grenswerk Café is definitely recommended, with delicious cocktails, unique street food dishes, and a trendy interior. In good weather, they also have a lovely terrace.
Pepper Street 10, Venlo – grenswerk.nl

Café & Poppodium Grenswerk
The name of this restaurant doesn't promise much, but nothing could be further from the truth! Eddy's Steak 'n Sushi is the perfect place to enjoy drinks or a bite to eat after a day exploring the city. Both the sushi and the meat dishes are delicious, so the restaurant offers something for everyone. My recommendation: choose one of the colorful sushi rolls on the menu and combine them with other dishes for a delicious sharing experience. There's no shortage of good music during your meal; this café-restaurant is known for its music, which is reflected in the murals.
Old Market 8, Venlo – eddyssteaksnsushi.com

Eddy's Steak 'n Sushi
Whether you're attending a performance at the Maastheater or not, dinner at Restaurant Cabbilaud is always a good idea. This is the place to be for a leisurely meal. Start the evening with a delicious glass of bubbly and enjoy a sumptuous three- to seven-course dinner with matching wines (or beers, of course) in a modern setting. In good weather, you can relax on the Scheuten Roof Terrace, where you'll feel like you're in a foreign country.
Old Market 30, Venlo – cabillaud.nl
On the corner of Kwartelenmarkt, you'll find the Romerhuis, a beautiful historic building dating back to 1521. It was built for one of the city's most influential families in the late Gothic style. Today, the Romerhuis houses both a chocolate shop and a coffee house! I especially loved the cozy "winter terrace" with its sheepskins and blankets. Can you picture yourself there with a delicious coffee or hot chocolate?
Wijngaardstraat 2, Venlo, hetromerhuis.nl

The Romerhuis
A bar like Dorstig in Venlo is perfect for a final drink after dinner. The interior is reminiscent of a modern tiki bar, and the drinks menu features delicious cocktails, specialty beers, and of course, a good glass of wine. Order a tasty snack, and if you're looking for some quality time, play a board game!
Kwartelenmarkt 2, Venlo – dorstig-venlo.nl
Beej Benders sells high-quality food and drinks. If you haven't opted for a hotel during your weekend in Venlo, but are staying in an apartment or cottage nearby, for example, this is the place to go for the tastiest things for drinks. From local beers to cheeses and more. At this fresh food market, you'll find products and treats from various local farmers. They also have a café-restaurant where you can enjoy a meal on site. This way, you can enjoy all the delicious food Venlo and the surrounding area has to offer while also supporting the local economy and community. Two birds with one stone!
Monseigneur Nolensplein 54, Venlo – beejbenders.nl

At Benders
Ask a local about their favorite restaurant, and chances are they'll say Nena Pizza. So, when in Venlo… for the tastiest traditional Neapolitan pizza, go to Nena Pizza. The ingredients are super fresh and come straight from Italy. For example, their buffalo mozzarella is made in Italy on Tuesdays and will be on your pizza at Nena's on Thursdays!
Kwietheuvel 43, Venlo – nenapizza.nl
Looking for a typical Venlo restaurant? My followers recommended Brasserie Sur Place! The moment you step inside, you'll feel right at home, as this restaurant feels like a living room. The staff are truly there for their guests and will do everything they can to make your evening a success. The restaurant's interior may seem simple, but the dishes are truly delicious and Burgundian. Definitely try the monthly menu, as each dish is a treat on your plate and surprises with unique flavor combinations. They use a lot of local suppliers, and they always highlight this on the menu – great!
Kwartelenmarkt 13, Venlo – brasseriesurplace.nl
Keizerstraat is known as one of the most beautiful and charming streets in Venlo. It's no wonder you'll find all sorts of great pubs and restaurants here, including brewery-café De Klep. Here you can choose from over 100 different specialty beers, and the snacks are also excellent. If you're looking for a Burgundian get-together, brewery-café De Klep is the perfect place.
Keizerstraat 13, Venlo – cafedeklep.nl

Beer from De Klep
This charming Mexican restaurant in Venlo has only been open for a little over a year, but it's become a city staple. This is the place to go if you're craving tacos and nachos! All the dishes are perfect for sharing, so I recommend ordering a variety of delicious tacos and trying as many different flavors as possible. Fancy a drink? Then don't miss Little Senorita's cocktail menu!
Parade 22, Venlo – instagram.com/littlesenorita_restaurant
STEK's motto is "We love to make you happy with a good cup of coffee, healthy and delicious food, and a big smile," and I couldn't agree more. This spot in Venlo is located in the library. It's a great place to study or simply gaze out the window. And how cool is that? You can literally eat or drink something among the cookbooks. If you're like me and love lattes, you'll love it. Try one of the specialty coffees available, like chai latte, matcha latte, and red beet latte. This is also a great spot to bring kids; there's a good chance they'll want to swing on the swing!
Beguinage 2, Venlo – stekvenlo.nl

STICK
The motto of De Keizerin is "Never leave!" and chances are you'll never want to leave after a visit to this charming pub. The decor is reminiscent of a warm, cozy living room, and the menu offers delicious drinks and bites, so you might just end the day with a drink and dinner. There's also occasional live music. And if you still want a more extensive meal, head next door to restaurant De Buurman!
Ursulastraatje 6, Venlo – dekeizerin-venlo.nl

The Empress drinks café
In one of Venlo's nicest shopping streets, you'll find KATT, a boutique full of lovely women's clothing, jewelry, and accessories, with friendly staff and a pleasant, airy atmosphere. They have two different stores on the same street. Besides the latest fashion, you can also find all sorts of lovely home decor items and gifts for yourself or someone else at the adjacent store.
Jews Street 20B, Venlo – instagram.com/katt_fashionandmore

KATT Fashion & More
Beads 'n Bobbles is located in a historic building on Jodenstraat. This jewelry store has been a Venlo institution for 22 years. Here you can buy rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets from well-known jewelry brands. But perhaps best of all, you can also buy everything you need to make your own jewelry. They have a huge selection of beautiful beads in all shapes and colors.
Jews Street 34, Venlo – beadsnbobbles.nl

Beads 'n Bobbles
Boekhandel Koops is the most well-known bookstore in Venlo, and here you'll find all the reading material your heart desires. The staff is friendly and clearly extremely knowledgeable about books. Looking for a new book for yourself, a nice coffee table book, fun read-aloud books for the kids, or perhaps a lovely gift? Then browse around and get advice if you're having trouble finding what you're looking for.
Klaasstraat 17, Venlo – bookstorekoops.nl

Fes Conceptstore was founded by sisters Femke and Sophie, who had a passion for fashion from a young age. This store offers a fun, young collection of brands for men and women. Looking for a striking outfit for a party or some stylish streetwear? Then you've come to the right place.
Grote Kerkstraat 7, Venlo – fes-conceptstore.com

Fes Concept Store
It's a bit hidden, but this fashion boutique is definitely not to be missed during your visit to Venlo. You'll find mainly trendy Scandinavian and French brands here, such as BA&SH and Second Female. Besides fashion, they also sell home accessories from HK Living.
New Street 40-42, Venlo – s-labels.nl

S.LABELS
DEV is a fashion store with high-quality vintage clothing, primarily from well-known designers. All items in the store are carefully selected and displayed to ensure that pre-loved items find a new home. Want to be more mindful and sustainable with fashion? Then this is a must-visit. Do you have any beautiful (designer) items lying around that you don't wear? You can also bring them in for sale at DEV.
New Street 19, Venlo – devvenlo.nl
For the most beautiful Scandinavian and Dutch homeware, go to Elleke. This shop has a minimalist design, and I can imagine you'd love to fill your entire home with the tasteful items you can buy here. Besides beautiful furniture, they also have smaller home accessories.
Klaasstraat 46, Venlo – ellekerutten.nl

Elleke
Looking for a fun gift or something for yourself? Then visit Kado in Huis. It's a typical gift shop where you walk in and leave with something you never knew you wanted. They sell just about anything! From small and quirky home accessories to kitchenware, fun art prints for the wall, and gifts for kids.
Klaasstraat 60, Venlo – kadoinhuis.nl

Gift in House
If streetwear and sneakers are your thing, Calico Club is a unique clothing store in the heart of Venlo that you'll want to check out. Here you'll find the latest urban lifestyle brands and the sneakers of the moment.
Parade 45, Venlo – calicoclubstore.com
This unique shop reminded me of a mini-department store, but with pre-loved clothes. Here you can find beautiful items and be very environmentally conscious at the same time. You do have to search a bit and be lucky to find the right size, but everything is sorted by color, which is definitely handy. Besides a well-stocked secondhand collection, they also sell new clothes to mix and match.
Kwartelenmarkt 7, Venlo – completelyyou.com

All YOU
Because I have a record player at home, I always pop into record stores when I'm away for the weekend. If you have one too, or just love music, don't miss SOUNDS. Spread across two floors, you'll find a huge collection of LPs, spanning every genre and era. And if you're looking for a drink or a bite to eat, Bij de Buren is just a short walk from SOUNDS.
Parade 66, Venlo – sounds-venlo.nl

SOUNDS

The Festina Lente Straatjes (Festina Spring Streets) are a well-known concept in Venlo and consist of the following streets: Gasthuisstraat, Jodenstraat, and Klaasstraat. Festina Lente is the Venlo motto with a beautiful meaning: "Make haste slowly, do everything with your head." In these streets, you'll find many small independent businesses with unique boutiques and charming restaurants. So put these streets in your Google Maps and start strolling!

This modern art museum is a must-see for all art lovers and definitely worth a visit. It's a unique museum because the entire collection was once the private property of a married couple from Amsterdam. They had no children to leave their art collection to and actively sought out a city willing to establish a museum for them. They found their partner in Venlo, and the Museum van Bommel van Dam has become an integral part of the city. For a few years now, they've been in their current building, where they regularly host changing exhibitions. You can also enjoy a delicious lunch at De Posterij (which I mentioned above). The exhibition about the Amsterdam artist Melle is on display until the end of February. It's a collection of colorful and bold works. Keep an eye on the website for the next exhibition. In the cloakroom, be sure to check out the hologram of the Van Bommel van Dam couple to understand more about how the museum came into being. And during your visit, don't forget to peek through the "Large Diving Goggles," which offer a magnificent view of the city!

Anyone strolling through Venlo won't miss it. Street art is everywhere in the city, from artworks to street art! It's something I always enjoy and that always surprises me. One of Venlo's most famous artworks is the Peaceful Warrior, which you'll find near Maasboulevard and Havenkade. Do you love street art? Then you'll find large murals at Grenswerk and next to STEK, among other places.
Have fun if you're going to Venlo for a night or a weekend soon!
