For almost 10 years (!) Coba Amsterdam A well-known name in the North and surrounding areas. And that's not surprising, because at this unique location, they use authentic Mexican ingredients and recipes – from cocktails to dishes. Reservations can be made up to three months in advance, and in many cases, they're even required.

Murmur
Murmur Amsterdam is a delightful and unique listening bar (a popular concept!) in Amsterdam Noord. This place's menu is compact, yet offers everything you could wish for, without any choice overload. The dish of the week is variable (as the name suggests) and a bit larger; the other dishes are better categorized as snacks and small bites. They also serve a variety of specialty drinks, and this is one of those places where time flies. Before you know it, the evening is over.

Barracuda
Barracuda opened its doors in 2024 and is now the renowned fish restaurant located on Aambeeldstraat. They have a unique approach: each table receives a menu where you can select which dishes you'd like to have. From toast with ricotta and scallops in white wine to fennel with sea aster – and there's plenty of choice for vegetarians too.

Hotel de Goudfazant is one of those classic, always-good places. The modern menu changes frequently and has been surprising for years. A bakery has also been added, open daily from 10:00 AM.

No-Yusu
Your favorite YUSU classics, but in a laid-back atmosphere, as if you were in a very trendy sports canteen? Now it's possible at NO-YUSU Amsterdam, in the heart of Noord. You might know the location of this always-great spot from Kometen Brood, which previously operated there. The concept of NO-YUSU is similar to the Oost location; both serve high-quality coffees, matchas, and homemade snacks, but their aesthetics are quite different. In Noord, you won't find a picture-perfect setting, but a large space that resembles an old sports canteen.

Don't expect a typical pizzeria at Europa Pizza. In fact, they're far from it. They call it a pizza-driven wine bar, and that's actually a brilliant description for this place, which has been drawing crowds for years. The first time you visit, you'll immediately understand why.

Sam's Coffee North
Sam's Koffie Noord Amsterdam is the second branch of Sam's Koffie, which already has a location on Welnastraat in Oud-West. Opening a coffee shop in Noord is a different story than in Oud-West, the owners discovered. Nevertheless, Sam's Koffie Noord quickly became a popular hotspot for all ages.

Benelux Bar
Benelux Bar Located right next to Europa, it's indeed from the same family as Europa and Europizza. This restaurant is completely different from the other two, as it focuses on snacks and drinks. Snacks are a treat: homemade sourdough bread with creamy butter, pickled artichoke hearts, and fried asparagus are just a few of the delicious treats. The cocktails are also one of a kind. All the spirits used in them come from Empirical in Copenhagen – a distillery that calls itself a "maker of flavors."

From restaurant to skate park to club – it all happens at Skatecafé. Enjoy an à la carte menu until 9:30 PM, after which the tables make way for a dancing crowd. So, dancing until the wee hours is guaranteed.

Sichuan Territory (Garage North)
The name may sound familiar to you because Sichuan Territory Amsterdam already has a location near the Red Light District. The second location is part of Garage Noord. They're known for their authentic Sichuan cuisine, and the new location in Noord takes that even further. No Dutch interpretation of Chinese dishes, but you can taste the real China in our capital at this location.

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!
