Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam: perhaps the greenest hotel in the city

We previously shared the 13 most beautiful courtyards in Amsterdam with you. With this article, we are pleased to add a spectacular Amsterdam courtyard to that list. Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam , one of the most sustainable hotels in the Netherlands, which opened its doors last year, boasts an amazing subtropical courtyard that feels like a vacation. And that makes Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam, besides being a paradise to stay in, perhaps the 'Greenest Hotel in Amsterdam '. Most rooms have a view of the IJ, and the spa is the place to be for a day of blissful relaxation.

Inside the Jakarta Amsterdam hotel

The subtropical indoor garden features, among other things, towering palms, banana trees, and climbing plants, and was realized in collaboration with Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam. They made a careful selection of trees, towering palms, and plants from Asia. The indoor garden of Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam extends from Bakkerij Westers, at the back of the hotel, all the way to the point in Café Jakarta. This concludes a series of indoor gardens on Java Island. From east to west, the urban architect has created public indoor gardens, all named after green spaces on the island of Java.

Hotel Jakarta Amsterdam has 200 rooms and is not only literally green but also energy-neutral thanks to countless solar panels and large glass windows that let in plenty of sunlight. Operations in the kitchen and laundry are also as sustainable as possible. Truly a green hotspot.
