Staying on the Water at Good Hotel Amsterdam
Good Hotel Amsterdam is a cool pop up hotel on the water. On the water? Yes, that’s right. On the water. Good Hotel is built on a boat! For a whole year this boat will be located at Westerdok and then after that it will be shipped to Rio de Janeiro, just in time for the Olympics. So don’t forget to book a night here within these few months. Because believe me: you don’t want to miss this!
Design X Good Hotel Amsterdam
When you enter the hotel you will immediately notice the modern design interior. An industrial style, wooden tables, comfy couches and colourful photos on the wall: stylisch and yet still warm. Designed by two young Dutch designers. The rooms all look like that as well. They might be really small (13 m2), but they’re furnished very practical and again with modern design. Cool! What makes the room even cooler is the view: we had a waterfront view! Before sleeping time and waking up we could stare at all boots on the IJ. And in the evening you can hear the water slosh against the boat. It really felt as if we were on a vacation; sooo relaxing! This while begin on walking distance of the Haarlemmerbuurt and the city center of Amsterdam.
Food X Good Hotel Amsterdam
Want to have a bite at Good Hotel Amsterdam? On the menu you will find simple, familiar dishes. Like entrecote, grilled salmon or a burger. Drinks before going into town? Here they serve classical cocktails that go very well with finger food like bitterballs, ossenworst or cheese sticks. But what’s really great here is their breakfast! No buffet but different a la carte options. You can choose for example from three different breakfast menu sets that are all looking so good! We tried the Good breakfast with orange juice, half a grapefruit, toast with avocado, scrambled eggs, fruit salad, yoghurt with homemade fruit compote and granola. Great choise! Are you a small eater then you can also order everything separately, but otherwise this is perfect!
Non-for-profiT-hotel concept X Good Hotel Amsterdam
The hotel is not only great because of their interior, atmosphere and service. The idea behind the concept is also awesome! Good Hotel Amsterdam is a non-for-profit organisation that invests their profit into training and educating people. About 100 unemployed Amsterdam locals get the chance to have a 1 year training program to become hospitality professionals. Once they’re done with the program they will work for 3 months in the hotel before being sent off to work somewhere else.
So staying at this hotel doesn’t only mean that you’ll enjoy a night away from home, but while doing that you’re also contributing to a very good initiative.
