Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢
Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.
Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake
TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.
You'll want to remember these soy milk shops for your future trip to Taipei:
📍Fuhang Soy Milk
📍Soy Milk Shop
📍Yong He Soya Milk King (Da'an)
📍Sihai Soy Milk
I am currently touring Taiwan, and you can also find all the tips in my Stories Highlight.
Have you ever been to Taiwan? I'm curious if you thought it was *that* amazing!

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.
During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.
• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.
· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.
· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.
Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.
• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).
Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.

The Pecorino: The best pizza in Amsterdam North? You can get it at Il Pecorino in the bustling Van der Pekplein!
Van der Pekplein 11, Amsterdam – ilpecorino.nl
Royal CannibalFor late-night snacks and one of the best burgers in town, visit Cannibale Royale. Besides three locations in the city center (Handboogstraat, Rozengracht, and Lange Niezel) and De Pijp (Ruysdaelkade), they've also opened a restaurant in Noord.
Mt. Ondinaweg 32, Amsterdam – cannibaleroyale.nl
Northern lights: While we're on the subject of favorites, Noorderlicht can't be missed. This creative spot on the NDSM site in Amsterdam Noord is the ideal place for a party, drinks or low-budget dinner.
NDSM Square 102, Amsterdam – noorderlichtcafe.nl
Best before date (Tolhuistuin)As soon as you step off the Buiksloterveer ferry, you'll see the Tolhuistuin and its restaurant, THT. Thanks to the elevated position of the (large!) restaurant, you can marvel at the view of the IJ River. The menu offers several smaller dishes, but even if you order two, they usually cost less than (or around) €15.
IJpromenade 2, Amsterdam – tht.nl

THT
Café ZurichThe round café with its red roof is impossible to miss on Mercatorplein. With the parking garage underneath, the cozy fireplace, and the huge terrace in the sunshine, this spot is always a good choice.
Mercatorplein 2B, Amsterdam – cafezurich.nl
De VondeltuinVondelpark boasts several cafés and restaurants, including the Vondeltuin. Enjoy a flammkuchen, a savory crêpe, a spicy curry, or perhaps a salad. Whichever way you look at it, you're sure to find a great spot in this setting!
Vondelpark 7, Amsterdam – devondeltuin.nl
Spaghetteria: My all time favorite in Amsterdam is without a doubt SpaghetteriaThe simple formula gives you a choice of six different pasta dishes, ranging from arrabiata and ravioli to spaghetti vongole and tagliatelle with wild boar ragù. What more could you ask for?
Multiple locations, Amsterdam – spaghetti-pastabar.nl

Bar KostaThe former Ter Brugge at the end of the Overtoom opened as Bar Kosta after a long renovation. It immediately became one of our favorite spots, thanks in part to its fantastic sunny terrace, delicious snacks, and friendly service.
Overtoom, Amsterdam – barkosta.com
RotisserieRotisserie chicken makes everyone happy! Especially the Rotisserie kind, because boy are they good. Go for the fried chicken burger with extra kimchi and thank me later.
De Clercqstraat 81H and Beukenplein 17, Amsterdam – rotisserieamsterdam.nl

FranggoPortuguese rotisserie chicken with pir-ipiri sauce—it's hard to say no to that! This cute little spot quickly became a neighborhood favorite. Order takeout or dine in.
First Sweelinckstraat 9h, Amsterdam – franggo.nl
Fou Fow RamenSlurp! Ramen is pure comfort food, and we could eat it every day. Fou Fow's ramen is one of our favorites, thanks in part to the amazing broth and char siu (roasted pork belly).
Van Woustraat 3, Amsterdam – foufow.nl
AlbinaThe city is bursting with Surinamese eateries, but Albina is definitely my number one. Not only because of its location within walking distance of my house, but especially because of the superb saoto soup and pom sandwiches.
Albert Cuypstraat 69, Amsterdam – albina-amsterdam.nl
From the Spit: Even more chicken, but we simply can't resist. Van 't Spit is always good and fundamentally different from Franggo. Van 't Spit is not only much bigger, but they're more American-style, with onion relish and divine barbecue sauce.
Frans Halsstraat, Amsterdam – vantspit.nl
GlassSuddenly, the city is teeming with Israeli spots, and I can only encourage this trend! After dating an Israeli, I can't deny that I still miss my former mother-in-law's authentic hummus. Luckily, there's Bardak, with their insanely delicious hummus, fluffy pitas, and killer cocktails.
Ferdinand Bolstraat 12, Amsterdam – bardak.nl

Bar GalliziaBar Gallizia is a cozy Italian restaurant and wine bar on Javastraat. Most pasta dishes are under €15, and the burrata alone is reason enough to go there.
Javastraat 67, Amsterdam – gallizia.nl
Caffe MiloI had one of the best burgers I've ever had here (hello Old Amsterdam, red onion relish, and focaccia!), and Caffe Milo is still one of my favorites for drinks or a bite to eat in Amsterdam East. It has a cozy terrace, no fuss, and delicious beer on tap.
Linnaeusstraat 71h, Amsterdam – caffemilo.com
The Beer GardenThey won Het Parool's burger test years ago, but the chicken (there it is again!) is the crowd-pleaser. Prefer a healthier option? Then go for the Caesar salad with spit-roasted chicken. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!
Linnaeusstraat 29 and Prinsengracht 494, Amsterdam – debiertuin.nl
d&a hummusI'm open about my love for hummus; it's simply such a great invention! Hummus is not only inexpensive, but also nutritious, vegetarian, and plant-based. It's practically a delicious accompaniment – mango chutney, anyone?
Oostenburgergracht 185 and Westerstraat 136, Amsterdam – dna-hummusbistro.com
The Commons: The Commons is the restaurant at The Student Hotel. The menu offers a variety of options, with something for everyone. Make it as extensive as you like.

Hi TinHidden among the many Asian restaurants and Asian shops, you'll find Hoi Tin, where authentic Hong Kong food is served. Step through the red-and-gold gate and imagine yourself in the city of dim sum, noodles, and skyscrapers.
Zeedijk 122, Amsterdam – restauranthoitin.com/nl
Oh MaiVietnam is one of the most mentioned food destinations and just a look at Ô Mai's menu will make your mouth water.
Utrechtsestraat 12, Amsterdam – omai.nl
Ben Cohen Streetfood: Ben Cohen had been on Rozengracht for years, but his son renovated and reopened it in 2019. He renovated the place and turned it into a cozy Tel Aviv-style bar. The menu features some of the best hummus in the city, as well as an amazing mushroom shawarma and more. A must-try!
Rozengracht 239, Amsterdam – bencohenstreetfood.com

Nam KeeWe all want to slurp oysters like Katja Schuurman and Egbert Jan Weeber. At the golden oldie, Nam Kee, you'll do it like the best, but they also have plenty of budget-friendly options on the menu.
Zeedijk 111-113, Amsterdam – namkee.nl
La PerlaWe're rounding out this list with what many consider to be the very best pizza in town: La Perla! Located in the Jordaan district, this small but always bustling pizzeria is waiting for you. Expect a long wait, but it's more than worth it.
