Foodhallen Rotterdam: the doors are open and these are the exhibitors!

the food halls rotterdam have opened their doors

In Amsterdam it has become an indispensable part: The Foodhallen in Amsterdam West. This indoor food market opened its doors in 2014, offering delicious bites, drinks, and a fun atmosphere. The building housing De Foodhallen is also unique, a former tram depot. And now we've received the good news that a second Foodhallen location has opened! Not in Amsterdam, but in Rotterdam, and once again in a special building. De Foodhallen Rotterdam is housed in a former warehouse. When founder Chong Chu stumbled upon this building, he knew immediately: this was the place for the second Foodhallen location.

The Foodhallen in Rotterdam isn't a carbon copy of the one in Amsterdam. Located in the Kop van Zuid district, the concept behind Foodhallen Rotterdam is entirely focused on the hospitality industry. With the opening, there are 15 food stalls offering delicious food and a variety of cocktails.

Which fifteen are they? Spot number one goes to Bar Pulpo, run by Jelmer Bouma and Pegah Hosseinzadeh. Both previously worked at Las Palmas with Rotterdam native Herman den Blijker, who is also involved in the project. And so, these guys know how to prepare fish like no other. Erik and Julien van Loo of Parkheuvel are the second exhibitors, offering a Michelin-starred meal with the familiar Foodhallen twist. Foodshed brings a street-style interpretation to their signature dishes. Alvaro Martinez – a familiar face from the kitchen of El Bulli and now executive chef at BasQ – serves Rotterdam Spanish pintxos at Txosta, while Roffa Streetfoodbar keeps things local with smoked meat, fish, and local spirits. Dessert comes from Ten to Three Bakery. These sweet tooths will keep your sugar levels high with their cupcakes.

For my new book staycation which is now in stores, I've been to Rotterdam often this past year, and I can't wait to join you at De Foodhallen later this year. Keep an eye on Your Little Black Book, because I'll be reporting on it in detail. I promise!

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre).
