Feeling the Christmas spirit yet? These New York window displays certainly do the trick!
December is fantastic in New York. Lights everywhere, the most beautiful Christmas decorations, snow and of course cold, but also a lot of sun!
One thing they do best here is make Christmas incredibly special. If you're here this month, be sure to stop by these shops. It often takes them a year to prepare (indeed, as soon as everything is cleared away, they get back to work for the next "holiday season"), but they're truly fantastic. There's interaction, entertainment, music, everything! It's like fairy tales.
For those staying home, here's a peek into New York's most beautiful window displays…
Name: Bloomingdale's
Address: 1000 3rd Avenue (between 59th and 60th Streets)
What's on display: Christmas with an international twist. Everything revolves and flies. We see window displays featuring England, China, Paris, Italy, and, of course, New York: "Take a journey with us around the world and remember that certain things like love and style are universal."
Name: Lord and Taylor
Address: 424 5th Avenue (between 38th and 39th Street)
What's on: "Vintage New York." Romantic, old-world style. Lord & Taylor harks back to New York during Christmas in the old days.
Name: Macy's
Address: 151 W 34th Street
What's there: "Dream and Believe" is about a little boy dreaming about Christmas. It's a shame you can't hear the beautiful music that accompanies it. A fairy tale...
Name: Bergdorf Goodman
Address: 754 5th Avenue/58th Street
What's on: “Holidays on Ice” features classic American holidays (the holidays) Arbor Day (the day people plant trees), Thanksgiving, the 4th of July, April Fools' Day (April 1st), Valentine's Day, Halloween, Mardi Gras, New Year's Eve, Groundhog Day, frozen in a beautiful display window.
Name: Henri Bendel
Address: 712 5th Avenue
What's on display: "Hirschfeld Spectacular" takes place in a classic New York dining room. You're looking inside at the party they're having. From left to right: Woopie Goldberg, Audrey Hepburn, Woody Allen, Marilyn Monroe, Matthew Broderick, Sara Jessica Parker, Liza Minnelli, Jerry Stiller, Bernadette Peters, Carol Channing, and the artist Al Hirschfeld (a renowned New York Times artist honored in this window display. Some of his drawings are also on display).
Name: Saks Fifth Avenue
Address: 611 5th Avenue
What to see: For years, it's rumored that a yeti lives on the roof of Saks on Fifth Avenue and makes snow in the winter. Follow the cute, gentle yeti on his journey in search of the prettiest snowflakes. The 3-D light show outside is also truly beautiful.
