COFFEE to go OR to stay at Espressamente illy in Amsterdam
On a weekly base I receive emails with the question where to go to for dinner and drinks when you are close to Central Station. For coffee (to go or to stay) you can go now to the Espressamente from illy oppositie Central Station. A coffee brand which I have a soft spot for since I went on a press trip to their Coffee University in Trieste, last summer. Real Italian coffee made with a scientific precision. Exactly the right temperature with only the best beans there are. It doesn’t matter where I travel to, illy’s coffee always tastes the same.
But maybe even better, is their homemade illymisù. Their own variety on the famous tiramisù, so delicious you want to lick the plate afterwards.
In Italy the Espressamente from illy is, as a coffee bar, a real ‘thing’ in the bigger cities. And now you can go to Espressamente in Amsterdam for good coffee, delicious pies and panini’s. Which you can find in the block between the Victoria hotel and restaurant 5&33 straight across the station.
On one of their tastings I tried a variety of different dishes. From ciabatta with parma ham and mozzarella to a focaccia with vegetables. Italian style! For most of the cakes and cookies Espressamente works together with ‘Baked’ in Amsterdam. I think their lemon poppy cake and the chocolate chip cookies are the best ones in Amsterdam. But maybe even better, is their homemade illymisù. Their own variety on the famous tiramisù, so delicious you want to lick the plate afterwards. The illymisù is made with freshly made illy espresso. YUM!
Tip: you can order everything ‘to go’ so, walk in for something nice when you are on your way home.
