I LOVE the Mexican food in New York City. We’re trying and testing so many new restaurants! Empellon Cocina is a very good Mexican restaurant at the East Village. And OMG what is the food good there :-). The dishes are made to share, that’s always nice. You get to try more tastes! We shared the squid dish, which was soft as butter. The plate was styled with mole and chorizo mayonnaise. Looked beautiful! Also very good is the chicken confit taco with wild spinach and hazelnut salsa. But our all time favourite is the pastrami with mustard seed salsa! With a Narragansett summer ale and not too loud trendy music on the background this stylish place is one definitely worth trying! And how cool is this detail… with the bill they give you a free recipe for a very special guacamole. With sea urgin!

On our way back to the subway we passed some great looking bars and restaurants around Stuyvesant street and East 9 street. I’ve put them on the list for next time. Be prepared for some sushi & sake!
