7 Things to do on a Rainy Day in Amsterdam

for when it rains again in Amsterdam…

The Netherlands and rain go hand in hand. And how we love to complain when it rains again! You might think we've adapted pretty well to these kinds of rainy days, but many people still stay home on the couch with a Netflix series. But that's not the only option, and there are actually plenty of fun things to do in Amsterdam, even when it rains. So here are some tips for a rainy day in Amsterdam. Enjoy!

7 things to do on a rainy day

Cultural day: Besides the beautiful Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum, there are many more museums that are worth visiting and ideal for when it rains in Amsterdam. this On this website, you can see which exhibitions are currently on at Amsterdam's museums, such as EYE or Foam. The Nemo Museum is also always fun (and educational), and from there you have a beautiful view of the city, which is a lovely sight even in the rain.

TonTon ClubA day of games, from arcade games to air hockey or a good old-fashioned game of Jenga. At the TonTon Club, it's all possible, and you can also enjoy delicious food and drinks. A perfect combination for a rainy day, because it's all indoors! There are currently two locations open, one in the city center and one in the west, but one will open soon in East. So there's a good chance there's one near you!

Reorganize your wardrobe: A rainy day in Amsterdam is perfect for a day of tidying up your wardrobe. Figure out which clothes you still wear and which items can actually be thrown away. You can then sell the clothes you want to get rid of at a flea market, for example. IJ-hallen, or simply online. You can, of course, use the winnings to restock your wardrobe with new items. Visiting the IJ-Hallen is also fun on a rainy day, so keep an eye on website keep a close eye on when there will be another indoor market.

To the HallsAt the Foodhallen in West, you can not only eat and drink, but also go to the movies at the Filmhallen next door. They show films like those you'll find at Pathé cinemas, as well as arthouse films. Something for everyone, and plenty of choice! The cinema here is less crowded than the commercial cinemas, and of course, you can enjoy a bite to eat and a drink at the Foodhallen itself afterward! Before you go, check the schedule on the website of the Filmhallen.

Pub quizzes: Pub quizzes are still hot in Amsterdam. Every evening, and often during the day on weekends, you can participate in pub quizzes at many different pubs! They're always fun to do with a group, and more and more themed quizzes are popping up. There are quizzes focused primarily on music, but even ones based on Friends (yes, that show)!

Indoor sports: If you prefer to stay active, there are plenty of indoor activities in Amsterdam. Bowling at Knijn is always fun with a group of friends.

Spa day: If you're more in the mood for relaxation, a rainy day in Amsterdam is perfect for a spa day. You could, for example, spend a day at the sauna or go for a beauty treatment. You don't always need to make an appointment in advance, at Sense For example, you can always go for one of their treatments.

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre). 𝗔 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗲́ 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆? @eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember. Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤 Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here! 📍 Eetcafé de Reiger Jordaan, Amsterdam City Center Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
