YAY! The Foodhallen in Amsterdam will open in the fall of 2014. Something that all foodies in Amsterdam have been hoping for for years is finally going to happen. Borough Market in London, Chelsea Market in NY, San Anton Market in Madrid and Market Central In Valencia, as a fine example, Amsterdam now also has a covered and permanent food market.
The Foodhallen will be opened in the De Hallen complex in Amsterdam westThis enormous 16.000 m² former tram depot will house two restaurants, a cinema, various shops, a hotel, and a library. Some initiatives are even already open! An indoor food market will be added in the fall of 2014.
The Foodhallen will offer space to approximately 25 Amsterdam restaurants, allowing them to open additional locations within the market stalls. A kind of mini-restaurant of the existing concept with a uniform industrial look. Sounds good!
I'm already busy thinking about which restaurants and food shops could open there... for example: Headfirst Coffee Roasters, Bar Brewer, &Samhoud Streetfood, The Fat Dog, Bocas, Pink flamingo, SLA en stach.
Please be patient. As soon as we know more about De Foodhallen in Amsterdam, you'll read it here.
