Craft Beer Amsterdam

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is hooked on craft beer

2 April 2015

Normal beer is so 2014! We want craft beer :-)

I’m suffering. From spring Fever! And although the weather it not really cooperating, I can

only think of the sun and a sunny terrace. Brandt & Levie sausage on the side (yum!), a delicious craft beer and I call it a day. I’m like all the other beer-drinking hipsters hooked on craft beer! Almost no one orders a normal beer anymore; although not at the places I go. But I hear you thinking: everyone talks about craft beer. Why craft beer? Well, let me tell you: black is the new black and craft beer is the new beer.

Craft beer is brewed by small, independent and mostly local breweries. And surprise! This is thé trend nowadays. No mass production, but surprising, innovative products from their own region. Although beer of the big, well-known breweries is still good; don’t get me wrong. And although special beers are also surprising and innovative. But it’s just not the same. Amsterdam wants something different. Something refreshing. Something brewed by handsome men with beards ;-) Meanwhile craft beer is such a hit that we even wanna try special beers from other parts of the world. Think of the Brooklyn Lager or the Danish beers Mikkeller. I think it’s so cool to see some craft beers I drank while traveling on the menu in Amsterdam!

As a woman I must confess, that my choice for craft beer often depends on the label. They’re awesome! I’m for example a huge fan of Anchor Steam beers. I drank this for the first time in Austin and I order it almost always when they have it. That bottle, LOVE it! Fortunately, there are several places in Amsterdam to drink craft beer. My favourite places? Bar Bukowski, De Biertuin, Smokin’ Barrels and Halte3.

See you on the terrace!
