As a coffee lover, I enjoy the benefits of a barista boyfriend every day. In Amsterdam, he lovingly makes me a cappuccino or latte (yes, with a heart!) and is the first to tell me all about the newest coffee spots in town. But even when I'm traveling, Mr. Coffee Nose always knows how to point me to the best coffee shops. Handy! So when we were in New York This fall, we went on a real coffee tour and tasted everything. We were bouncing around by the end of the day, but I can tell you which are the best coffee bars in New York. Read this blog post about 12 of our favorites!

When you walk the High Line in New York you have to Chelsea Just pop down the stairs to grab a coffee at Underline Coffee. The aroma of freshly roasted beans wafts from the old train tracks, and the coffee is excellent. Highly recommended!

Where coffee meets design. Budin Espresso is a Norwegian coffee shop, beer bar, and shop all in one. During the day, you can enjoy specialty coffees, enjoy a beer in the late afternoon, and in between, shop for some fun souvenirs made by Scandinavian designers. Nice in East VillageCity of Saints. A super innovative coffee bar with the most beautiful coffee machine I've ever seen. A marble countertop and iron tap. A fancy beer tap, but with coffee!

Drinking coffee and checking your email at the same time? Not here! Third Rail Coffee offers a free Wi-Fi policy, so you can truly take your time with a delicious cup. Definitely try one of Third Rail's personal favorites: the Cortado. It's half espresso with half steamed milk.

Okay, the only spot on this list where I didn't go with my barista boyfriend, but where I had coffee a few times with Anne. One of the best coffee spots on the Lower East Side, if you ask us, because the coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed! Also a great co-working space.

A hugely popular coffee spot: Stumptown! Found in West Village Next to the Ace Hotel. With handsome hipsters behind the coffee machines, they'll happily tell you which coffee is best for you. They're also available at the other eight locations, by the way.

Are you in BrooklynThen Toby's Coffee is highly recommended! They also roast their own beans and make excellent espressos with them. It's also a fun and pleasant coffee bar with friendly service. You can also find them at other locations in the city!

Everyman Espresso >> coffee bars in New York
At Everyman Espresso, they combine coffee and cocktails! Here, barista Sam Lewontin (a well-known name in the barista world) makes fantastic seasonal espressos. He's also the one who got New Yorkers hooked on coffee cocktails! I'm already a huge fan of the Espresso Martini, so of course I had to try it. Highly recommended! PS: This coffee spot has two locations in Manhattan! East Village and SoHo.

Blue Bottle >> coffee bars in New York
The no fewer than 7 Blue Bottle locations across New York demonstrate just how popular this coffee bar is. The coffee spot in Williamsburg on Berry Street and the one on the High Line in Chelsea. Extra special: they roast their beans here in vintage roasters! Definitely order a filter coffee here because it was perfect!

Also fun in Harlem: Double Dutch Espresso! Only go if you're not in a hurry, as the line is long. This spot is popular, especially with students and freelancers working here.
