In this guide for the Vondelpark in Amsterdam you find our favourite addresses in and around this beautiful park in Amsterdam Old South. The Vondelpark is one of my favourite parks in Amsterdam. From the city center you can access the park near Leidseplein. It’s a nice break from the busy city center or after a visit to one of the museums at Museum Square.
During the summer the Vondelpark is the backyard of the Amsterdammers. You find people picnicking, or kids enjoying the playgrounds and plunge pool. But the Vondelpark is also nice to visit during the colder months. Go for a walk all the way to Amstelveenseweg and have a drink at one of the restaurants and cafes located in the park. One of the most famous places are Het Blauwe Theehuis, Parkzuid and De Vondeltuin.
Good to know: it’s not allowed to bbq in the Vondelpark, but of course a picnic is also nice for warm summer evenings. My favourite part of the park is the rose garden where you usually only find locals. All year round there are events going on in the park, but during summer months the Vondelpark Openluchttheater is a place not to miss during the weekends for (free) concerts.
