Vondelpark is one of my favorite city parks in Amsterdam. From the city center, you can walk straight into the park at Leidseplein, all the way to Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam Oud Zuid. In the summer, Vondelpark is the backyard of all of Amsterdam, but I also love taking a walk there in the winter. Afterwards, I enjoy a drink at De Vondeltuin of Vondelpark3!

Good to know: you're no longer allowed to barbecue in Vondelpark, but a traditional picnic is still a lovely way to spend a warm summer evening. My favorite area is near the Rose Garden, a little further into the park than the large grassy areas you encounter as you enter the park from Leidseplein. Throughout the year, there are fun events in the park, often free of charge, such as the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre.
