From November 13, 2026, to January 23, 2027, you will walk over five kilometers through wintry Amsterdam every Friday and Saturday evening with Le Foodwalk Winter. Along the way, you will stop at five restaurants for a bite, from Vermeers Wijnkamer and In de Waag to Dignita Hoftuin and We Are EDN. It is great with friends, your date, colleagues, or family if you want to combine walking, good food, and discovering the city.
One of the exhibitions I am looking forward to most this autumn: Yayoi Kusama at the Stedelijk Museum. The exhibition brings together work from the period 1956–1968, featuring paintings, installations, performances, and fashion. I am a huge Kusama fan myself, so this is high on my list. An added bonus: there are also special events and programs surrounding the exhibition.
Relatively new in Amsterdam is ART Zoo on the Herengracht, where art, nature, and taxidermy come together in a monumental canal house. My son found the Wunderkammers alone beautiful to look at. The enormous animals and dinosaur skeletons also make a big impression. In addition to the permanent collection, there are rotating exhibitions, so check what is on display before you go. Fun with and without kids.
Pillows Maurits at the Park is one of the best hotels in Amsterdam with spa and wellness.
Hotel Jakarta is sustainable, has a delicious Indonesian brasserie and a nice swimming pool.
Affordable and family-friendly hotel with studios and a cozy restaurant near the Westerpark.
For me, Antwerp remains one of the easiest cities to spontaneously visit for a night or a weekend. You get off at Antwerp Central and can basically start shopping, having lunch, and discovering new restaurants immediately. Perfect if you want to get away but don't want to spend a long time traveling. Book train tickets to Antwerp here >>
London is a city I keep finding new reasons to return to. Restaurants, hotels, exhibitions, shopping, and every neighborhood has a completely different atmosphere. An added bonus: you travel by train to St Pancras and are right in the heart of London. Book train tickets to London here >>
Boarding in Amsterdam in the morning and having lunch in Paris a few hours later: that alone makes this one of my favorite train city trips. Go for a weekend full of restaurants, new exhibitions, shopping, and long lunches, or add an extra night. Book train tickets to Paris here >>
