It's no wonder that Amsterdam's hot spots are located in De Pijp, one of its oldest neighborhoods. This melting pot of different cultures offers a rich variety of choices. This is the place where hipsters indulge in trendy boutiques, health freaks enjoy a healthy lunch, and yuppies ring in the weekend with a well-deserved "Vrijmibo" (Friday Afternoon Drink) at one of the many cafes.
In the summer, it's wonderful to relax on one of the relaxed terraces at Gerard Douplein or Marie Heinekenplein. This is also one of the best spots for simply people-watching. More in the mood for strolling, sipping coffee, and browsing boutiques? You're sure to find something to your liking on Van Woustraat or Ferdinand Bolstraat. And last but not least, immerse yourself in the typical Amsterdam folk culture at the Albert Cuyp Market. Oh, and don't forget to try the poffertjes (small pancakes)!
