HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!

Next to restaurant De Goudfazant in Amsterdam-Noord, you can now go to the movies at FC Hyena. It's the perfect spot for dinner and a movie date, as you can also grab a bite to eat beforehand.

Studio/K
Studio/K is completely run by students and that makes this cinema in Amsterdam Oost Extra special. Besides a cinema, it's also a café, restaurant, and club. So, great if you feel like dancing afterward. Our tip: the apple pie is delicious!

Criterion
Kriterion is more than just a cinema. It's become a household name on Roetersstraat, right next to the University of Amsterdam. After classes are over, students come here for a beer or two. You can always decide to go to a movie afterward! The seats are certainly comfortable, and the screen is nice and big. We couldn't ask for more!

Cinecenter is tucked away between Leidseplein and the Melkweg. You'd think you'd spot it among the touristy pizza joints and cheesy clubs in this spot. at the center Don't expect it, but this is a super fun movie theater. You grab a drink at the bar beforehand, where the always friendly staff will help you. Then you walk across the red carpet, strewn with a rather creepy eye print, to one of the cute little rooms. Cinecenter mainly shows arthouse films and foreign films. It's a nice change from The Hunger Games!

Eye
Besides being a cinema, Eye is also the film museum of Amsterdam. You can cross over to Noord Take the ferry from Amsterdam Central Station, and you'll find yourself in a fantastic architectural gem. It's beautifully situated on the IJ River and offers delicious food. In the summer, you can sit outside on the terrace, but even when it's a bit colder, it's a lovely place to be. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, just how we like it.

First let's look at Mussel & GinThen, on to the Ketelhuis on the Westergasterrein. This small cinema always shows high-quality films, carefully selected by the knowledgeable staff. They specialize primarily in Dutch films. If you feel like discussing the film's content afterward, be sure to order a slice of carrot cake. It's divine!

Tuschinsky
Okay, okay, we admit it. Tuschinski isn't a real arthouse cinema, but secretly a Pathé cinema. Yet it feels like you've stepped into a beautiful arthouse cinema. In this art deco-style cinema in the at the center In Amsterdam, you'll see blockbusters, but also the occasional PAC (Pathé Alternative Cinema) film. If you have the opportunity to go to theater 1, always do! Book the so-called love seats for a true VIP treatment. This includes a drink and snack, and you'll have the best seats in the house!

The Filmhallen in Amsterdam west is a super good addition to Amsterdam's film offerings. It's owned by the same people as The Movies. First, go along the food hall Or De Kanarieclub for a solid foundation. Then, head straight to De Filmhallen. If you're in the mood for a blockbuster, go for it! But if you're more in the mood for an arthouse film, De Filmhallen Amsterdam is also the place to be.

You go to LAB 111 for the delicate, rough edges and rare gems of cinema. Many film festivals showcase their best work here, including plenty of animated features, unconventional documentaries, and films that defy categorization.
