What sounds like an average man in Amsterdam is the name of a new, promising restaurant in the centre of our capital. Restaurant Christiaan Smit Amsterdam will soon open its doors on Prinsenstraat, near the first restaurant by the same owners: Kikkie.

Why you should visit Christiaan Smit Amsterdam

The owners of Kikkie Amsterdam had always dreamed of a place with an extensive dining area. Initially, that was the plan for Kikkie – a place inspired by English pubs with good food, where you’d want to undo the button of your trousers after dinner. The space did not allow that, so Kikkie took on its current form. However, the owners’ cherished dreams did not fade. When the opportunity arose to take over the premises of ‘De 2 Grieken’, they seized the chance. This was to be the place where their dream would become a reality. And with the cosy indoor space and a courtyard, that mission was accomplished.

Menu at restaurant Christiaan Smit

Like at Kikkie and Christiaan Smit Amsterdam, they cook with a great love for meat, fish, and local products. Under the leadership of chef Simon van Lith, they will cook seasonally, with a starring role for langoustines, mutton, dry-aged fish, and lamb. Abel van Schoonhoven will take care of the wine list with matching wines.

From 18 July, the restaurant will run trial weekends for two weekends, and then it will be open from Friday to Sunday during the summer. After this slow start—at the start of the new school year—the opening hours will be extended, and Christiaan Smit will also serve lunch. It is clear: this new restaurant is a must for your foodie bucket list!
