A shop dedicated to cheesecake. Some won't understand, while others will immediately call it heaven on earth. The latter is also true for the founder of Cheesecake Project Amsterdam, who ran a foodie Instagram account alongside his job in sports betting. He'd always been fascinated by food and couldn't wait to start his own business. With Cheesecake Project, that dream became a reality, right in the heart of the Jordaan.
Cheesecake Project Amsterdam is located in a charming building on Laurierstraat. The building is bathed in natural light thanks to its large windows and features a wood-effect interior. Once inside, the staff will warmly welcome you. They're ready to explain exactly what's on the menu and help you with your choice whenever needed. It's a wonderful place to spend time, and not just because of their fantastic selection.

The Cheesecake Project menu features Basque cheesecakes – originating from the area where France and Spain meet. These cheesecakes differ from American versions in texture. The New York variety is firm, while the Basque is soft and creamy. The top is a firm layer, while the inside is creamier, even slightly runnier. The ingredients are also different, but aside from the base (which is made with Spanish Maria biscuits), they don't reveal which cheeses are used. That's okay, because you won't find cheesecakes as good as the ones at Cheesecake Project at home.
The cheesecakes come in various shapes and sizes, and you can also sample them. The classic is even a little salty; you can really taste the cheese. The chefs are also currently working on an even cheesier version, with blue cheese.
A cup of coffee with a fresh slice of cheesecake, celebrating your birthday (with cake!) or a tasting of your favorite treat: it's all possible at Cheesecake Project.
